About The Role
As a Recreation Therapy Worker, you will be an integral member of our interdisciplinary team, responsible for implementing our established Recreation Therapy Program. You will carry out individual or group leisure/recreation therapy programs such as arts, socio-cultural events, crafts, sports, music, cooking, gardening, and exercises. Additionally, you will set up and organize furnishings and equipment for programs and special events, porter residents to programs, teach techniques of related activities, and oversee resident participation.
In this role, you will conduct resident programs outside of the facility, ensuring residents have appropriate clothing and necessary funds for outings. You will collaborate with nursing staff, supervisors, and therapists to confirm program details and report any issues or changes. Your dedication to providing engaging and therapeutic activities will contribute significantly to the well-being and enjoyment of our residents.
Position Details
This is a casual day shift position and when scheduled, shift times will be 08:30 to 16:30. Employees in this role are eligible to apply for internal postings for permanent part-time or full-time positions, with many career paths at Interior Health starting from relief positions and evolving into regular employment opportunities.
