Original job description

IonVantage Partners (IVP) is an energy and utilities advisory firm focused on engineering support, capital projects, and technology strategy. We help utilities and technology providers across power generation, nuclear, and the wider energy sector plan, govern, and deliver complex programs, and make sound technology decisions along the way. We are early-stage and growing deliberately. The people we hire now will help shape how the firm works, what we offer, and the clients we serve.

We Do Consulting Differently

IVP is a boutique firm, and we are doing things differently. Don't expect the standard consulting pyramid. We will work as a nimble and agile team. You will learn about the power generation industry directly from people with decades of experience who are still having fun and love learning like you. Read more about us here: www.ionvantage.com.

The Role

We are hiring up to three (3) Strategy Consultants to join IVP at an early stage. You will work directly with the founder on client engagements, with real ownership of analysis, client-facing deliverables, and workstreams from your first project. This is not a role for someone who wants a narrow lane. In a small firm, you will contribute to proposals, shape our methods and tools, and help build the firm alongside delivering client work.

What You Will Do

Support and lead workstreams on technology and capital-project strategy engagements for energy and utility clients
Develop technology roadmaps, business cases, and investment prioritization for digital, data, and AI initiatives
Assess and design operating models, governance frameworks, and delivery approaches for engineering and capital programs
Support vendor and technology selection, requirements definition, and data and asset-information strategy
Conduct market, regulatory, and competitive research and turn it into clear recommendations
Prepare executive-ready materials (e.g., presentations, reports, and board or steering-committee briefings)
Contribute to proposals, thought leadership, and the development of the firm's offerings and accelerators
Build trusted relationships with client teams, partners, and subject-matter advisors

What You Bring

3+ years of experience in management or technology consulting, strategy, or a comparable corporate strategy, transformation, or program role
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous problems and build models and business cases
Excellent writing and presentation skills; you can distill complexity into a clear message for senior executives
Experience in one or more of: technology strategy, digital or data transformation, AI strategy, operating model design, capital projects or program governance, or engineering-driven environments
Comfort working independently in a small, fast-moving team where roles are broad and the work is hands-on
A university degree in engineering, business, science, or a related field
Eligibility to work in Canada

Strong Assets (preferred)

Experience in energy and utilities, including power generation, nuclear, transmission and distribution, or renewables
Engineering background, P.Eng. or EIT designation, or progress toward one
Exposure to capital project delivery, asset management, or owner's engineer work
Familiarity with enterprise asset and engineering data platforms, AI and data analytics, or cyber security and governance
Prior experience at a consulting firm, utility, or technology provider serving the energy sector
Interest in business development and helping build a new firm

Above all, we value curiosity, passion, and range, and a willingness to take on tough challenges. If you have strong consulting fundamentals and are excited about energy, we want to hear from you, even without sector experience.

Why IVP

Early-stage opportunity to shape the firm's culture, offerings, and direction, with room to grow into larger roles as the firm scales
Meaningful, varied work at the centre of energy transition, nuclear, and infrastructure investment
Exposure to a network of industry leaders, utilities, suppliers, and technology partners

Work Arrangement

Hybrid, remote in Greater Toronto Area. Some travel to client sites may be required.

IVP is committed to an inclusive, equitable hiring process and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates, including women, Indigenous Peoples, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
