As the Network Construction Project Manager, Technical Program Management, you are embedded on site and responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing physical network infrastructure construction across IREN's Canadian data centre portfolio. You bridge the gap between network engineering design and physical delivery - ensuring that fibre, structured cabling, switching infrastructure, and front-end network fabric are built on schedule, to specification, and ready for commissioning.
Reporting to the Director, Technical Program Management, the Network Construction Project Manager, Technical Program Management is responsible for:
- Own on-site delivery of physical network infrastructure - fibre runs, structured cabling, patch panels, tray systems, and switching infrastructure
- Manage site-level project plans, schedules, and daily coordination across network construction crews, cabling contractors, and implementation teams
- Coordinate with Network Engineering to ensure construction aligns with approved topology diagrams, port maps, and cable schedules
- Track construction progress against the master schedule - flagging delays, material shortages, and scope deviations in real time
- Manage the physical delivery of fibre, optics, DAC cables, patch leads, and structured cabling materials - coordinating with Procurement on lead times
- Lead daily site stand-ups and weekly construction progress reviews with contractors and engineering stakeholders
- Ensure all physical installations meet IREN's quality standards - conducting visual QA, cable dress inspections, and label verification before commissioning handoff
- Coordinate rack elevation builds, cabinet installations, and PDU infrastructure with data centre operations teams
- Support back-end network validation activities in coordination with network engineering, including RoCE, InfiniBand, and Ethernet fabric verification
- Manage construction RFIs and scope change documentation - ensuring all field changes are captured in as-built records
- Maintain site safety compliance, coordinating with Site Leadership on access controls and contractor management
Required
- 5+ years of project management experience in network construction, structured cabling, or physical data centre infrastructure delivery
- Hands-on understanding of fibre optic infrastructure, structured cabling, patch panels, and data centre switching environments
- Experience managing construction contractors and cabling crews on active data centre sites
- Ability to read and interpret network topology diagrams, cable schedules, and rack elevation drawings
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across engineering, construction, and operations teams
Preferred
- Experience in hyperscale, HPC, or Tier 3+ data centre environments
- Familiarity with Dell, NVIDIA, or Lenovo switching and networking infrastructure
- Knowledge of RoCE, InfiniBand, or high-performance Ethernet fabric environments
- Experience with NetBox or equivalent DCIM platforms
- PMP, RCDD, or equivalent project management or network infrastructure certification
What Success Looks Like
- Physical network infrastructure is built on schedule, to specification, and ready for commissioning without rework
- Cable schedules, port maps, and as-built drawings are accurate and complete before handoff
- Construction crews are coordinated and never blocked waiting for materials or decisions
- Network construction milestones are never a surprise - risks are visible and escalated before they impact the critical path
