Full-time
IRIS Construction Management is seeking a Construction Estimating & Tender Coordinator to support public tenders, proposals, cost estimates, and subcontractor procurement.
This role requires practical construction experience and the ability to interpret drawings, understand trade scopes, and obtain complete, competitive quotations. The primary focus is preconstruction and bidding, with contract administration support as projects move into construction.
Responsibilities

- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and submission requirements.
- Prepare scope summaries, bid checklists, and clarification requests.
- Coordinate site visits, mandatory documents, bonding and insurance requirements.
- Assemble proposals and bid packages for management review and timely submission.
Estimating and trade procurement
- Source qualified subcontractors and suppliers and maintain IRIS’s trade database.
- Prepare trade bid packages, request quotations, and actively follow up.
- Track trade coverage and distribute revisions and addenda.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs, budgets, and detailed estimates.
- Compare quotations and clarify exclusions, qualifications, overlaps, and missing scope.
- Prepare pricing summaries, including general conditions, allowances, and identified risks.
- Maintain historical pricing and supplier information.
Handover and contract administration
- Prepare clear handover packages for awarded projects.
- Assist with subcontract scopes and purchase orders.
- Support project managers with change quotations, cost tracking, and document registers.
- Maintain organized bid and contract records.
Final pricing, contingency, margin, and bid approval remain with senior management.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of relevant construction experience, preferably with a general contractor in estimating, tendering, or project coordination.
- Ability to read architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of construction sequencing and subcontractor responsibilities.
- Experience obtaining and comparing trade quotations.
- Strong Excel, document management, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and follow up independently.
Construction experience is mandatory. General administrative experience alone is insufficient.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public-sector tendering and commercial renovation experience.
- Familiarity with MERX, Bluebeam, and estimating or takeoff software.
- Knowledge of Manitoba subcontractors and suppliers.
- Relevant education in construction management, engineering technology, or a related field.
