Senior Python Developer

Location: Toronto Ontario- hybrid 4 days

Contract to hire

Job Summary

  • 8+ years production Python; services and batch jobs you were personally on call for
  • Oracle: strong SQL, bind variables, bulk DML, execution-plan reading; oracledb / cx_Oracle
  • RHEL fluency: bash scripting, cron/systemd, process and log forensics, packaging and deployment
  • IBM MQ (pymqi) and Solace (solace-pubsubplus): queues, topics, redelivery, poison messages, backlog drainage
  • Enterprise integration patterns: pub/sub, request-reply, guaranteed delivery, idempotency, replay, reconciliation and acknowledgement write-back
  • REST API design and consumption; auth, retries, timeouts, backpressure
  • Confident with JSON, XML (XSD, XPath, namespaces) and CSV at volume, parsing, generating and validating
  • Effective, disciplined use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Copilot: scoped prompts, repo context, reviewed and tested output, never unverified code into a release
  • pytest, Git, code review, and clear written design notes

Nice to have

  • SWIFT MT/MX message formats and settlement messaging
  • Securities lending, repo, collateral or post-trade settlement domain knowledge
  • HashiCorp Vault, Control-M or Tidal, Jenkins, Maven, Nexus
  • pandas and openpyxl for data work; Sybase or SQL Server
  • Reading C++ or Java well enough to trace a message through vendor code

Responsibilities

Develop and support production Python services and batch jobs, including responsibilities for on-call support. Build and maintain integrations using Oracle, messaging platforms, REST APIs, and high-volume data formats, with reliable delivery, reconciliation, and operational monitoring.

Requirements

Requires 8+ years of production Python experience, strong Oracle SQL skills, RHEL fluency, and experience with IBM MQ and Solace messaging. Candidates should also be proficient in API integration, JSON/XML/CSV processing, pytest, Git, code review, and disciplined use of AI coding tools.
