Original job description

The Person We Are Looking For

You are an even keel, enthusiastic and energetic self-starter, able to take initiative, eager to learn and to be challenged and to participate in a thriving company culture. We are a small company and each player on our team makes a huge impact to the whole. You have excellent communication skills – both written and verbal are essential. You are down to earth and easy to be around with a sense of professionalism, able to work to high standards without someone over your shoulder. We rely on people who want to help us improve our business, to find innovative solutions to problems, and to refine our services. It is not a top-down kind of place with corner offices and hierarchy; we are a group of people who love the challenge of what we do and who are striving to do it with excellence and expertise.

The Posting

As a Revit and AutoCAD draftsperson at Isherwood you will work on a wide variety of geostructural projects across Canada. You will work with Shoring Engineer’s designs to create full sets of excavation drawings and details in AutoCAD and 3D modeling in Revit. This interdisciplinary position will require you to extract and manipulate data from project references of architectural, structural, survey and utility drawings.

Requirements

· Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and knowledge of Revit.

· Ability to work in 2D while visualizing in 3D.

· Ability to work independently on several projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality output.

· Ability to read and understand architectural, structural, and utility reference drawings.

· Experience with MicroStation, Bluebeam, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Dynamo and/or Lisp is an asset.

· Knowledge of GIS systems and databases is an asset.

· Understanding of BIM and collaborative work environments is an asset.

· Knowledge of programming, computers, and MS365 is also an asset but not required.

· Structural or architectural background is an asset but not required.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn.

The Company

Isherwood specializes in geostructural engineering for new and restoration projects in Toronto, Vancouver, and throughout Canada. Formed in 1972 by Brian Isherwood, Isherwood provides superior value to our clients, rooted in a heavy focus on personalized service, constructability, and high-quality field review. We are a collegial organization with little hierarchy, and have a unique culture that sees people first and allows for open and honest communication.

The Team

Since 1972, Isherwood has grown to a staff of over fifty people including professional engineers, EITs, project managers, a geologist, field technicians, CAD technicians, as well as business, legal, safety, and support personnel. We believe that slow, careful growth can ensure we keep our integrity and place in the market as a high-end firm. Our employees are passionate about what they do and are dedicated to providing clients with top-tier service by contributing expertise from a variety of backgrounds, and by cultivating a teamwork-focused, hands-on approach to solving problems.

“For me, Isherwood Associates represents a workplace respectful of people with diverse beliefs, opinions and cultures, a workplace flexible to employees’ needs, a workplace which stresses the values of family, and fosters relationships between colleagues, clients and the public at large.”

- Nadir Ansari, President

The Location

In person in our Central office at 3-3100 Ridgeway Drive, Mississauga.
