Original job description

Isherwood is looking for the right person to join our Central Office in Toronto. We are looking for someone who wants to help deliver strong technical projects, support great clients, become an active member of our team, and help forge our shared future.

The Person We Are Looking For

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer who is open-minded and flexible, and interested in learning the way we do business. While the role is adaptable to the needs of the team, the focus will be on providing high-value technical project management to our clients and internal team.

You are a self-starter who appreciates autonomy in carrying out your work, while also enjoying the collaboration and resources available through our Toronto Central Office. You are practical, organized, and comfortable taking ownership. You understand your limitations, know when to involve others, and are open to asking for and accepting support when needed.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Our clients include contractors and developers across Canada, and listening carefully to project team members both internally and externally is key to delivering the services and support they require.

As a Project Engineer at Isherwood, you will work on a wide variety of geostructural projects across Toronto, the GTA, and Canada.

Responsibilities

Lead and support geostructural engineering projects from initiation through completion
Assist with the design and delivery of geostructural engineering projects, working closely with senior engineers and project teams
Support the preparation and review of design calculations, drawings, reports, and technical specifications
Coordinate internal and external project stakeholders, including engineers, CAD specialists, field staff, contractors, clients, and consultants
Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and invoicing requirements
Identify project risks early and help develop practical solutions
Provide responsive, high-quality service to clients and project teams
Support a positive, collaborative, and professional Central Office environment

About You

You have approximately six or more years of project management experience
You are a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada
You have experience working within the Canadian construction and regulatory environment
You have a valid driver’s licence and reliable access to a vehicle for site visits
You appreciate great design and enjoy solving complex problems
You are down to earth, versatile, practical, and a natural collaborator
You have excellent communication skills and enjoy giving good service
You are a “people person” who values trust, respect, and strong working relationships
You are adaptable, accountable, self-aware, and optimistic
You think working for a small, vibrant boutique engineering company sounds like tons of fun

About the Team

Since 1972, Isherwood has grown to a team of more than sixty professionals, including professional engineers, EITs, project managers, a geologist, field technicians, CAD specialists, and business, safety, and support personnel.

We believe careful, steady growth allows us to maintain our integrity, culture, and place in the market as a high-end firm. Our employees are passionate about what they do and dedicated to providing clients with top-tier service through a teamwork-focused, hands-on approach to solving problems.

About the Company

Isherwood specializes in geostructural engineering for new construction and restoration projects throughout Toronto, the GTA, the Vancouver Lower Mainland, and across Canada. Founded in 1972 by Brian Isherwood, we provide superior value to clients through personalized service, constructability, and high-quality field review.

We are a collegial organization with little hierarchy and a unique culture that sees people first and encourages open, honest communication.

“For me, Isherwood Associates represents a workplace respectful of people with diverse beliefs, opinions and cultures; a workplace flexible to employees’ needs; a workplace which stresses the values of family, and fosters relationships between colleagues, clients, and the public at large.”
