About the Role
You will lead a portfolio of land development projects in the Edmonton region, act as a trusted advisor to developer and municipal clients, and help grow our Edmonton practice. If you thrive on complex, multidisciplinary projects and enjoy mentoring the next generation of engineers and technologists, we would like to hear from you.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead land, municipal and site development projects through conceptual, preliminary and detailed design, from early planning and approvals through construction.
- Oversee the design of site grading, utility servicing, roadways, pedestrian networks and stormwater management.
- Prepare and manage development applications, including Area Structure Plans, Outline Plans, rezoning, Development Permits, Development Agreements and Building Permits.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams, subconsultants and field services, and complete quality control reviews.
- Support tendering and construction, including contractor coordination, construction reviews, Requests for Information (RFIs) and progress payment certification.
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, risk and client expectations, along with project financials such as fees, invoicing and collections.
- Build and maintain client relationships, lead proposals and identify new work.
- Coach and mentor engineers, technologists and Project Managers, and help guide the technical direction of the Edmonton team.
About You
You are a senior land development engineer with a strong technical background and sound professional judgment. You take ownership from early planning and approvals through detailed design and construction, and you deliver solutions that balance quality, risk, schedule and client objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (or equivalent) and registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Technologist (P.Tech) in Alberta or eligible for registration with APEGA.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in land development and municipal infrastructure, including 5+ years as a Project Manager.
- Proven experience managing development approvals and applications.
- Strong experience leading multidisciplinary teams, client relationships and construction-phase services (tendering, contractor coordination, scope/schedule/budget).
- A track record of winning and growing work, and of coaching intermediate and junior professionals.
