itec group is currently recruiting for an experienced PLC Programmer to join an established and growing automation team in the Niagara region.
The successful candidate will be responsible for PLC programming, HMI development, troubleshooting, commissioning, and supporting automated industrial equipment both in-house and at customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Program and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems.
- Develop and modify HMI applications.
- Perform system commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting and debugging.
- Work with electrical schematics and control panel layouts.
- Integrate equipment including VFDs, servos, sensors, safety systems and other automation components.
- Diagnose electrical and controls issues and provide effective solutions.
- Support machine installations and commissioning at customer facilities.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and engineering teams to complete automation projects.
- Provide technical support to customers as required.
- Travel approximately 30%, primarily within North America.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time and to customer specifications.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLCs.
- Experience with HMI programming.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and controls.
- Experience with VFDs, servos, motion control and industrial communication protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Experience with machine commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude considered an asset.
- Experience in a custom machinery, OEM or industrial automation environment is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30%.
- Valid driver's license and passport.
- Strong communication, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- $80,000–$100,000 + OT
- Full-time, permanent position
