Original job description
We are looking for a Senior Node.js Developer with strong hands-on experience in Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS serverless technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience building and maintaining scalable backend services, event-driven integrations, and cloud-native applications, along with strong production troubleshooting and application modernization skills.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Mandatory hands-on experience with:
- AWS Lambda
- Amazon SNS (Simple Notification Service)
- Amazon SQS (Simple Queue Service)
- Strong understanding of AWS serverless and microservices architectures.
- Experience with Apache Kafka producers and consumers.
- Experience with AWS Step Functions.
- Experience with Jest or similar unit-testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, preferably AWS CDK.
- Strong debugging, production support, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and Splunk. (Desired)
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js and TypeScript in AWS serverless environments.
- Build and support serverless applications using AWS Lambda, Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS), and Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS).
- Develop event-driven integrations using Apache Kafka and implement workflow orchestration using AWS Step Functions.
- Investigate complex production defects, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
- Refactor and optimize existing codebases to improve performance, scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
- Contribute to application modernization, re-architecture, and technical debt reduction initiatives.
- Write and maintain automated unit tests using Jest or similar testing frameworks.
- Define and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, preferably AWS CDK.
- Use Datadog and Splunk for monitoring, observability, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering best practices while collaborating with architects and cross-functional teams.
