Position Summary

The SharePoint Specialist / Web Application Developer is responsible for the planning, implementation, administration, and ongoing support of customer Microsoft 365 collaboration and information management environments, with a primary focus on SharePoint Online. This role will support organizations through the transition to a modern SharePoint architecture while ensuring alignment with organizational goals, records management requirements, governance standards, and user needs.

Working closely with business stakeholders and internal technical leads, the SharePoint Specialist / Web Application Developer will design and implement scalable SharePoint solutions, support Microsoft Purview compliance initiatives, optimize business processes and drive user adoption through training and support. The role combines technical expertise, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and operational support to ensure successful delivery and long-term sustainability of SharePoint and related Microsoft 365 solutions.

This is primarily a SharePoint Online migration, administration, and support role, with additional responsibility for supporting existing customer-facing business applications and portals as needed.

Compensation

· Salary range basis experience: $110,000-$125,000

Key Duties and Responsibilities

SharePoint Strategy, Implementation and Migration

Support the transition of customers to updated SharePoint Online architecture.
Partner with customer stakeholders to gather business requirements, understand operational needs, and translate them into effective SharePoint solutions.
Develop and execute project plans for SharePoint redesign, migration, and implementation activities, including timelines, milestones, deliverables, and resource coordination.
Design, build, configure, and optimize SharePoint sites, document libraries, navigation structures, metadata, content types, and user experiences based on business requirements and industry best practices.
Coordinate and perform content migration and restructuring activities while ensuring data integrity, security, and usability.
Identify risks, challenges, and barriers to successful implementation and develop mitigation strategies and solutions.

SharePoint Administration and Governance

Configure, administer, monitor, and maintain SharePoint Online environments.
Manage site provisioning, permissions, security groups, access controls, and governance processes.
Establish and maintain SharePoint governance standards, policies, and best practices.
Monitor platform performance, system health, and usage metrics to ensure reliability and operational effectiveness.
Troubleshoot technical issues, system limitations, and user access concerns, implementing timely resolutions.

Records Management and Compliance

Implement and maintain records management practices within Microsoft 365.
Configure and support Microsoft Purview solutions related to records management, retention policies, classification, disposition, and compliance requirements.
Ensure SharePoint environments support regulatory, organizational, and information governance obligations.
Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and documentation related to information management practices.

Microsoft 365 and Business Process Improvement

Design, implement, and support solutions leveraging Microsoft 365 technologies, including:
SharePoint Online
Microsoft Teams
Power Automate
Power Apps
Power BI
Identify opportunities to improve business processes through automation and digital workflows.
Recommend and implement solutions that enhance collaboration, efficiency, information management, and user experience.

Web Portal and Application Development Support

· Maintain customer-facing web portals and business applications used by clients for registrations, renewals, applications, compliance workflows, payments, receipts, reporting, and self-service processes.

· Troubleshoot existing portal functionality, review code, understand business rules, resolve defects, and deliver scoped application enhancements with appropriate technical review.

· Work across portal features such as forms, validation, user flows, APIs, document upload/download processes, permissions, and role-based access behaviour.

· Work with technologies such as .NET/C#, TypeScript, Node.js, Express, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relational databases.

· Prepare testing notes, implementation notes, and technical documentation to support deployment, handoff, and UAT issue resolution.

User Support and Training

Provide Level 2 escalation support by responding to customer inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues, and owning the resolution of complex issues as required.
Deliver training, coaching, and mentorship to end users and business stakeholders.
Develop and maintain user guides, standard operating procedures, training materials, and best practice documentation.
Promote user adoption and effective utilization of SharePoint and Microsoft 365 tools.

Qualifications and Experience

University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Management, Business Technology, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum four (4) years of experience administering and supporting enterprise SharePoint Online environments.
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Power Platform solutions.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, including:
Records management
Retention labels and policies
Information classification
Compliance and governance controls
Experience supporting SharePoint redesign, modernization, migration, or digital workplace initiatives.
Experience using SharePoint migration tools such as ShareGate is required.
Experience supporting existing web applications or customer-facing portals is considered an asset.
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and enterprise collaboration technologies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong knowledge of SharePoint Online architecture, administration, governance, and best practices.
Thorough understanding of Microsoft 365 information management, compliance, and security capabilities.
Strong understanding of business process improvement and automation using Microsoft 365 technologies.
Excellent project management, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prepare clear documentation, training materials, reports, and executive summaries.
Strong customer service orientation and commitment to user success.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results within established timelines.
