Midland Courier is currently seeking a Class 1 Yard Shunter to join our team in Dieppe, NB. We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused professional with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering superior service.
Schedule:
Sunday to Thursday | Start time between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM
Start and finish times will vary based on operational requirements. Flexibility is required for this role.
Position Overview
As a Yard Shunter, you will play a key role in supporting terminal operations by ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trailers throughout the yard. This includes positioning trailers at dock doors, managing yard inventory, and helping maintain a safe and organized work environment. The successful candidate must also be flexible and willing to occasionally assist with local customer pick ups using a cube van as operational needs require.

Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently move, position, and manage trailers within the terminal yard and at assigned dock doors.
- Conduct yard checks and equipment inspections, and monitor or refuel refrigerated units as required.
- Complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure company equipment is operated and maintained safely and responsibly.
- Comply with all safety regulations, traffic laws, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with Supervisors and Terminal staff to support efficient terminal operations.
- Promptly report any incidents, injuries, equipment damage, or safety concerns.
- Complete local Pick ups using a cube van as required to support operational needs.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 driver's license.
- Minimum of 2 years of safe tractor-trailer driving experience, shunting experience will be considered an asset.
- Clean driver's abstract and criminal record check.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs. using appropriate equipment.
- Strong attention to safety and operational procedures.
- Reliable, dependable, and customer-focused.
