Junior Assistant Project Manager / Project Coordinator

J. Floris Construction Ltd.

Location: Fraser Valley, BC

Position: Full-Time

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience

J. Floris Construction is an established General Contractor serving the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland. For over 30 years, we have built our reputation on quality construction, strong relationships, practical problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering successful Residential, Commercial and Institutional projects for our clients.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated Junior Assistant Project Manager / Project Coordinator who wants to build a long-term career in construction management.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their construction career who wants hands-on exposure to the full project management process and the opportunity to progress toward becoming a Project Manager.

The Opportunity

Working alongside our Project Managers, Site Superintendents, Estimating team, consultants, and subcontractors you will assist with the day-to-day coordination and administration of construction projects from pre-construction through completion.

This is intended to be a developmental position. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, willing to learn, and interested in taking on increasing responsibility as their experience grows.

You won't just be processing paperwork - you'll be learning how projects are planned, tendered, coordinated, constructed, and successfully turned over.

Key Responsibilities

The Junior Assistant Project Manager will assist with:

Reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation
Preparing and tracking and properly distributing project RFI’s, SI’s, and change orders.
Preparing, submitting, and tracking shop drawings and submittals
Preparing scopes of work and assisting with subcontractor tender processes (from tender invites to tender bid comparisons)
Issuing and preparing letters of award and purchase orders after the tender process to successful subcontractors
Maintaining project logs and all general construction document control.
Preparing meeting agendas and meeting minutes when required
Assisting with project schedules and tracking important milestones
Coordinating information and communication between consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and the Site Superintendents.
Working closely with Site Superintendents to assist with coordination issues
Printing and distribution of drawings and construction related documentation. (physical and digital).
Tracking building permit status’ and have general knowledge of this process
Tracking deficiencies and assisting with project closeout
Collecting O&M manuals, warranties, as-built information, consultant schedules and turnover documentation
Supporting Project Managers and Site Superintendents with general project administration and coordination

As experience develops, the successful candidate will be given responsibility for managing individual scopes of work, subcontractors, change orders, and eventually smaller projects.

Who We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate has:

0–3 years of experience in construction, project coordination, estimating, engineering, or a related field
A diploma or degree in Construction Management, Building Technology, Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline is an asset
Previous experience working for a General Contractor is an asset but not required
A basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications
Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, & MS Project.
Experience and proficiency with various AI platforms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good organizational and time-management skills
Attention to detail and a willingness to follow through on commitments
The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
A practical, solutions-oriented mindset
A valid BC driver's license and ability to visit project sites
We are willing to hire new grad from a post-secondary school.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone with initiative, curiosity, accountability, and a genuine interest in learning how to manage construction projects.
