The ideal candidate is a motivated engineer with strong technical capabilities in linear infrastructure, pumping systems, pressure reducing valve chambers, isolation and crossover chambers design, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic consulting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the planning, design, and delivery of water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance projects.
  • Perform hydraulic and hydrologic analyses for water distribution systems, sanitary sewers, pump stations, force mains, and stormwater networks.
  • Prepare technical reports, design calculations (e.g. hydraulics, layouts, pipe design, fittings and reinforcement, material and equipment selection), engineering studies, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Develop and review detailed design drawings, contract documents, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including treatment, transportation, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and environmental professionals.
  • Participate in client meetings, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Support project managers with scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Conduct site visits, field investigations and reviews, condition assessments, and construction support activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable municipal, provincial, and industry standards and regulations.
  • Act as engineer of record

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration within Canada.
  • 5-10 years of design experience in municipal water, wastewater, and/or stormwater conveyance infrastructure projects.
  • Experience performing hydraulic grade line assessments, pumping system analyses, pump station sizing, and coordination of transient/surge analyses is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and engineering design software.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both independent and team environments.

Ideally you’ll also have

  • Experience delivering projects for municipalities, utilities, or public sector clients.
  • Familiarity with trenchless technologies and rehabilitation projects.
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary pump station design projects involving structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/control systems.
  • Experience with condition assessment, rehabilitation, and upgrades of existing pump stations and lift stations.
  • Experience with construction administration and engineering services during construction.
  • Knowledge of British Columbia municipal design standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
