We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Manager to support our Ottawa team and provide leadership, technical expertise and discipline in project execution.

Working with a team of highly motivated engineers, designers and project managers, you’ll champion the delivery of high-quality projects that meet or exceed client expectations in both technical delivery, quality and schedule. You’ll also be a strong safety proponent /leader for our safety policies and our culture of caring. You will oversee the preparation of models, engineering specifications, drawings and calculations in support of engineering activities. This will include overseeing the preparation of planning documents, reports, studies, and calculations.

You’ll develop technical execution plans for projects, including scope, schedule, quality, health and safety, risk management, and change management plans; you’ll negotiate and manage sub-agreements, track, control and report on project performance, while also providing technical guidance for deliverables and developing, mentoring and empowering the project team. You’ll maintain regular and effective communication with clients. You’ll actively support the Project Managers and Client Service Managers in developing and expanding opportunities with existing and new clients and you’ll have the opportunity to provide input into growth and delivery strategy within the geography.

Here's what you'll need

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering
P. Eng designation or able to be registered with in the province of Ontario
At least 15 years of engineering design of water or wastewater projects
Demonstrated experience managing the technical, contractual and financial risks associated with both small and large/complex water or wastewater projects
Experience in multi-disciplinary coordination projects and /or portfolio management or multi-project management, including project planning, scheduling, estimating and budgeting, progress and performance monitoring and reporting
Experience in preliminary design, detailed design and contract administration /construction management
Experience with sales and business development, including writing technical proposals

Posted Salary Range Minimum

115,000.00

Posted Salary Range Upper

150,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 to $150,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across Ontario, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
