Original job description

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

Jacobs is currently looking to hire an Environmental Planning Professional with Environmental Impact Assessment experience to join our dynamic team in a full-time hybrid office-home role based out of one of our Canada offices (Calgary, Edmonton, Burnaby, Victoria, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, or Winnipeg).

In this position, you will support the technical delivery, including the impact assessment, of privately-owned infrastructure projects across Canada. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment while working on critical infrastructure projects. Our team provides a collaborative environment where you'll work alongside our experienced professionals who are committed to mentoring and supporting your professional growth.

If you’re passionate about environmental consulting and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams, we encourage you to apply. Bring your enthusiasm for learning and desire to conserve our natural resources, and we’ll help you grow.

Responsibilities Include

Coordinate Environmental Assessment (EA) activities from early planning through submission, regulator review, and approval, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, senior technical leads, and project managers.
Provide technical writing support to author key sections for environmental impact assessments and regulatory filings.
Collaborate with internal teams to integrate biophysical components, socio-economic components, and Indigenous knowledge and values into regulatory applications, assessments, or reports.
Lead internal and client progress meetings, workshops, and page flips
Be a Safety Leader and promote Jacobs Beyond Zero and our culture of caring.

Here's what you'll need

Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Science or Studies, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Geography, or a related field.
10+ years of relevant planner or project support experience working on environmental impact assessments, preferably in a consulting environment working on infrastructure or energy projects.
Demonstrated understanding of environmental assessment and regulatory requirements and typical EA workflow for projects in Canada (e.g., BC Environmental Assessment Act, CER Filing Manual, Impact Assessment Agency of Canada).
Sufficient technical depth in one or more environmental disciplines to author and critically review EA content, including interpreting technical inputs and translating them into defensible regulatory documentation.
Time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects and meet project deadlines.
Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation (e.g., Statistics Canada datasets).
Familiarity with Indigenous consultation and socio-economic considerations.
Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to write clearly and respectfully about socio-economic perspectives.
A high level of demonstrated initiative, problem solving abilities, and ability to work under minimal supervision.

Posted Salary Range Minimum

98,500.00

Posted Salary Range Upper

153,850.00

The base salary range for this position is $98,500.00 to $153,850.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.

Your application experience is important to us, and we’re keen to adapt to make every interaction even better. If you require further support or reasonable adjustments with regards to the recruitment process (for example, you require the application form in a different format), please contact the team via Careers Support.
