Jacobs' fast-growing team is currently delivering some of North America's most exciting transportation and infrastructure planning and design assignments and is the #2 Bridge firm as ranked by Engineer News Record. We are looking for a highly motivated and personable Senior Bridge Engineer based in Ottawa.
Responsibilities
- Lead bridge and transportation structure design projects.
- Deliver as the lead technical and project manager across a range of medium to large complex projects.
- Perform and supervise bridge, culvert, and retaining wall rehabilitations and new designs including technical reports, structural analysis, design calculations, quantities, specifications, and calculation checks.
- Lead and develop technical reports and memos to support design.
- Work closely with Project/Lead Engineers during all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout.
- Provide technical engineering services during construction, including the review of contractor submissions.
- Prepare proposals, project schedules, and budget estimates for project pursuits.
- Lead and manage design and inspection tasks including site investigations and OSIM inspections.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Act as a mentor for staff and promote a strong collaborative culture within the team.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Master's degree (M.Eng. or M.A.Sc.) in Civil Engineering specializing in structures/bridges from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licence with PEO in Ontario.
- More than 10 years' design experience with bridges, structural culverts and retaining walls.
- Practical experience developing structural design and structure planning reports.
- Working knowledge of CSiBridge or MIDAS Civil.
- Working knowledge of CSA S625 and the MTO Structural Manual.
- Working knowledge of applicable MTO design guidelines.
- Working knowledge of MTO standard drawings and specifications.
- MS Project knowledge is an asset.
- Experience performing OSIM bridge and culvert inspections is an asset.
Assets
- Bi-lingual (Language fluency in English and French)
- Registered with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) with regular ing. (ingénieur/ingénieure) permit
- PhD in Civil Engineering specializing in structures/bridges from an accredited university.

The base salary range for this position is $160,000.00 to $210,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across Ontario, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
