Construction Project Coordinator – Electrical & Shallow Utilities

What You'll Do

As a Construction Project Coordinator, you will support the successful planning, execution, tracking, and closeout of utility, electrical, telecommunications, and infrastructure construction projects.

Working closely with Project Managers, Operations Teams, clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and field crews, you'll play a key role in ensuring projects remain organized, compliant, and on schedule.

Responsibilities Include:

Project Coordination & Execution

Assist Project Managers and internal teams with planning, scheduling, and coordination activities to support successful project delivery
Track project milestones, schedules, changes, and project progress using tools such as FieldWire, SmartSheet, and Microsoft Project
Coordinate utility locates, Alberta One Call requirements, permits, and other project approvals required for execution
Monitor project timelines and communicate updates to internal stakeholders
Participate in project meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and follow up on action items
Support project closeout activities and turnover documentation

Documentation & Administrative Support

Maintain project documentation including RFIs, site instructions, drawings, correspondence, permits, and project records
Ensure project documentation is current, organized, and accessible to field operations teams
Complete accurate data entry related to project records, field reports, quantities, and production tracking
Prepare and maintain material take-offs, quantity tracking spreadsheets, and project reporting tools
Support the preparation and tracking of change management documentation
Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of project management systems, templates, and procedures
Provide administrative and project support as required

Job Cost Tracking & Reporting

Assist Project Managers with monitoring project costs by compiling quantity data, labour hours, equipment utilization, and material consumption
Support the preparation of productivity reports, project forecasts, and performance updates
Maintain project tracking spreadsheets and project controls documentation
Identify discrepancies, trends, or concerns requiring review by project leadership

Safety & Compliance

Ensure project safety documentation and certifications are complete, current, and compliant
Assist with maintaining permit records, inspection documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements
Promote JATEC's Culture of People and Power through proactive communication and a commitment to safe work practices

Client & Stakeholder Communication

Build positive working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
Support the resolution of project inquiries and challenges through effective communication and documentation
Communicate project updates, risks, and concerns to Project Managers and stakeholders
Contribute to successful project execution through collaboration and teamwork

What You Bring

We're looking for candidates with experience supporting construction projects, infrastructure projects, utility construction, civil construction, electrical construction, telecommunications construction, project controls, job cost tracking, scheduling, quantity tracking, and stakeholder coordination.

Required Qualifications

2-3 years of experience in a Project Coordinator, Project Administrator, Construction Coordinator, or similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong computer and software skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational, analytical, and time management abilities
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, professionalism, and quality
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and understand basic construction terminology
Experience tracking quantities, production, labour, or job costs within a construction environment
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence

Experience supporting residential subdivision, civil, utility, electrical, or infrastructure construction projects
