Purpose of position
Develop and deliver technical training with respect to aircraft systems, run up and taxi, troubleshooting, inspection techniques, refueling, etc. and company policy and procedures to all company CAT M & E employees, external customers and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) Contractors as required.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver training programs (Initial and Updated courses) to company Maintenance employees and external contractors/vendors/customers as required, in accordance with company requirements, ensuring consistent application and delivery of those programs and procedures.
- Evaluate as necessary, whether the students have achieved the desired level of knowledge as stated in the course objectives/lesson plans.
- Ensure standards for student safety are followed during any training including practical drills or work.
- Delivery of other training programs when required.
- Develop company Approved Training Organization (ATO) aircraft type courses (ATA Spec 104 Level 3) to meet Transport Canada and company approval requirements.
- Develop aircraft type familiarization courses (ATA Spec 104, Level I).
- Develop aircraft tow training, aircraft ground runs & taxi training, avionics systems training, diagnostics training and specialized tooling training such as borescope inspection.
- Develop new courses as directed by the Maintenance Training Manager.
- Develop Maintenance Control Manual / Maintenance Production Manual (MCM/MPM) Standards and Update courses.
- AOG contractor training (company policy & procedures).
- Respond to and report back on daily operational issues.
- Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, and the safety of co-workers and customers.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Other duties may include
- Coordinate with Maintenance Training Coordinator for class lists and hotel bookings.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Training Manager or various Maintenance Managers as required for scheduling training activities.
- Ensure training location and equipment are arranged for the training, and any equipment issues are reported back through the Maintenance Training Manager or 3rd party person responsible.
- Administration of any required course examinations including completing forms and reports.
- Ensure course attendance records are completed and forwarded to the Maintenance Training Coordinator when required. Provide support, coaching and training material to line trainers as required.
- Periodically audit line trainer training programs to ensure consistent application of standards, procedures and training standards are maintained.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the maintenance of aircraft.
- Aviation maintenance training by recognized institution.
- Transport Canada Licensing for Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
- Ability to successfully complete the "Train the Trainer course".
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral (as all training is done in English).
- Well organized and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to travel across Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma in Adult Education.
- Previous experience as an Aircraft Maintenance Trainer.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Transport Canada endorsements on current company aircraft types (E175, CRJ900, Dash 8-400).
