With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Consisting of four locations - the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,200 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more. JBS Ontario in Belleville produces fresh meat and seafood products for leading retailers in Canada.

NOTE: THIS ROLE WILL BE LOCATED IN BROOKS, AB

You Will

Assist plant production by troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and providing support for electronics including the following:

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals
  • Calibrate and service Metal detectors and weighing scales
  • Setup and do minor repairs on Foss meat analyzers
  • Setup and repair numerous label printers and applicators
    • Install, configure and repair Production data collection devices (scales, terminals, barcode scanners etc.)
  • Install and terminate data communication cables
  • Install and maintain CCTV cameras
  • Install, calibrate and troubleshoot instruments
Required

  • Minimum college diploma related to instrumentation/ electrical/ electronic/ automation.
  • Minimum 1 year of Automation technician experience will be an asset.
  • Knowledge on VFD, PLC, C++ programing & troubleshooting
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills as well as demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting, programming and calibration skills.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and support plant electronics and automation equipment, including metal detectors, weighing scales, meat analyzers, label printers, and production data collection devices. Install and maintain communication cabling, CCTV cameras, and instruments, and perform equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

A college diploma related to instrumentation, electrical, electronic, or automation fields is required, and at least one year of automation technician experience is an asset. Candidates should have knowledge of VFDs, PLCs, and C++ programming, along with strong troubleshooting, programming, calibration, computer, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
