Job Summary
Food World Plus is looking for a reliable and skilled
Pasta Chef / Pasta Cook to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of pasta dishes, sauces, vegetables, and other food items while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and food safety.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a restaurant, café, grocery store kitchen, prepared foods department, or similar food-service environment. Experience with fresh ingredients and made-to-order pasta dishes is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of pasta dishes according to recipes and customer orders.
- Prepare pasta sauces, vegetables, toppings, proteins, and other ingredients.
- Cook different types of pasta to the proper texture and consistency.
- Prepare ingredients and sauces for daily kitchen operations.
- Follow recipes, portion sizes, and food presentation standards.
- Maintain consistent taste, quality, and appearance of all dishes.
- Keep the cooking station clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
- Monitor the freshness and quality of ingredients.
- Properly store, label, and rotate food products.
- Assist with inventory, food preparation, and kitchen organization.
- Handle customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Communicate with kitchen team members regarding orders and preparation requirements.
- Assist other kitchen staff when required.
- Support daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Pasta & Sauce Knowledge
Candidates Should Have Practical Knowledge Of Preparing Pasta Dishes And Be Familiar With At Least Three Common Types Of Pasta Sauces:
- Tomato-Based Sauces: Marinara, tomato basil, arrabbiata, and similar sauces.
- Cream-Based Sauces: Alfredo and other cream-based pasta sauces.
- Oil-Based Sauces: Aglio e olio, garlic and olive oil-based sauces, and similar preparations.
Knowledge of pesto, Bolognese/meat sauce, and other Italian-style sauces is considered an asset.
Experience/Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience as a Pasta Cook, Cook, Line Cook, Pasta Chef, or similar kitchen role.
- Previous experience in a restaurant, café, grocery store kitchen, prepared-foods department, or food-service environment is an asset.
- Practical knowledge of pasta preparation, cooking techniques, and different types of pasta sauces.
- Knowledge of Italian-style dishes and experience preparing fresh pasta or made-to-order meals is an asset.
- Knowledge of food preparation, portion control, food presentation, and maintaining consistent food quality.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and proper food-handling procedures.
- Experience working with fresh vegetables, herbs, meats, cheeses, and other pasta ingredients is an asset.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and portion standards accurately.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy, high-volume kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.
