Prodomax Automation Ltd. is currently seeking a NETWORK AND SYSTEMS SPECIALIST to join our team.
Located in Barrie, Ontario, Prodomax is a specialized industrial engineering firm focused on designing complex automation with a blue-chip customer base since 1971. Operating from two facilities totaling 200,000 square feet with 200+ employees; we are ISO 9001:2015 certified.
The Opportunity
Network and Systems Specialist will oversee the day-to-day operation of the computer network, including hardware & software support.
This individual will be responsible for installing, maintaining and upgrading the computers, networking and server systems, as well as user support for hardware and software and adhering to cyber security protocols.
This position provides administrative duties, guidance to junior IT team members and management of external subcontractors.
This position will report to the (Information Technology) IT Manager, North America and dotted line to the Chief Financial Officer.
The Network and Systems Specialist is accountable for:
- Availability, reliability, and security of IT infrastructure.
- Compliance with corporate policy, cybersecurity and regulatory requirements.
- Effective operation and support of complete network, server, cloud, and end-user systems.
- Successful execution of infrastructure and cybersecurity projects.
- Business continuity, disaster recovery readiness, and risk management.
- Delivery of high-quality, professional IT support services to internal and external customers.
Job Responsibilities:
Leadership & Administration
- Support team objectives and monitor performance against departmental goals and key performance indicators.
- Promote compliance with company policies, IT standards, cybersecurity requirements, and operational procedures.
- Identify training needs and support professional development opportunities for IT team members.
- Mentor / coach, junior IT team members.
- Assist with recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and training of IT personnel.
- Create Purchase Orders, IT equipment and supply procurement, coordination
IT Operations & Governance
- Manage IT asset lifecycle activities, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, inventory tracking, and safe disposal.
- Maintain software licensing compliance and accurate hardware and software inventories.
- Responding to and resolving IT tickets from company users in conjunction with the IT Team, and supporting others with IT tickets and resolution in a timely manner.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce IT policies, standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Document and update work instructions, procedures and IT department information to maintain up-to-date records, in accordance with change management best practices
- Coordinate disaster recovery testing and business continuity exercises, including backup restoration drills.
- Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and contractors.
- Assist in the preparation of IT budgets, capital expenditures, and technology roadmap planning.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and security.
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues
- Monitor servers and applications for stability and take proactive measures to prevent issues
- Execute network security measures to protect data, software and hardware, and educate employees on risks and precautions
- Assist ERP team – e.g. to copy databases, perform upgrades, configuration changes, etc.
- Provide internal and external customers with timely technical support and guidance
- Repair and recover from system or software failures
- Assist in design and security features of server room
- Exemplify the company’s PSI’s, work ethic and commitment to service excellence in all activities and in interactions with other departments
- Participate in corporate IT projects and teamwork with both regional and HQ IT colleagues
- Other duties as required.
Cybersecurity
- Develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity controls to protect company networks, servers, cloud services, applications, endpoints and data.
- Monitor security alerts, vulnerabilities, and threats, and coordinate remediation activities.
- Co-manage firewalls with external company, VPNs, endpoint protection, email security, and network access controls.
- Perform regular patch management and security updates for servers, workstations, network infrastructure, and software applications.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, multifactor authentication, and privileged access controls.
- Support cybersecurity incident response, investigation, containment, recovery, and documentation activities. Conduct vulnerability assessments and recommend corrective actions to reduce cybersecurity risk.
- Support annual penetration testing and timely remediation efforts for identified vulnerabilities
- Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions are maintained, tested, and documented.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.
- Provide cybersecurity awareness training and promote security best practices throughout the organization.
- Support customer cybersecurity requirements, audits, questionnaires, and compliance initiatives.
- Protect customer intellectual property, engineering data, software, and proprietary manufacturing information.
- Work with Operations teams to support secure network architecture and system design.
- Evaluate and recommend cybersecurity technologies, tools, and processes to improve the organization's security posture.
- Maintain awareness of emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
Job Qualifications, Education, Experience:
- Post-Secondary Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years related system and network administration experience
- Leadership or supervisory experience in an IT environment, would be an asset.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing technical teams.
- Understanding of Zero Trust architecture principles.
- Experience implementing and supporting cybersecurity controls in manufacturing / industrial environments.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, CyberSecure Canada, NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), or equivalent industry standards.
- Experience implementing or maintaining ISO 27001, CPCSC or CMMC (ITAR) or equivalents, preferred.
- Understanding of network security, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, identity and access management, and incident response processes.
- Experience supporting cybersecurity audits, risk assessments, and compliance initiatives.
- Exceptional and professional customer service orientation.
- Strong decision-making and prioritization skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong conflict resolution and relationship management skills.
- Understand the significance of quality control and disciplined processes

- Windows systems operations and administration, active directory, DNS, DHCP
- Network protocols and technologies, data communication fundamentals and operation
- Knowledge of Virtualization Environments, Microsoft Environments, Active Directory and Windows Server
- Design and implementation of IT Infrastructure systems for new and existing sites
- Knowledge of Firewall Management
- Relational Databases (Microsoft SQL, MYSQL)
- Experience on Azure, O365
- Mobile device management tools
- Network Monitoring systems (CheckMK)
- DELL Storage Systems DELL & Seph
The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check, credit check and obtain/maintain a Government of Canada security clearance or any other applicable clearances

What we offer:
Competitive Annual Compensation: *$80,000.00 - $95,000.00
*The actual compensation a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
