The Opportunity

JGL Group of Companies is seeking a Director, Executive Office to serve as a trusted partner to the CEO and a key internal connection across the organization.

This is not a traditional executive support role. While strong organization and executive coordination are important, success will be driven equally by judgment, relationships, communication, and the ability to understand how people and priorities move across a complex organization.

The Director will work closely with the CEO and leaders throughout JGL to create alignment, maintain momentum on priorities, improve communication and follow-through, and help ensure the CEO’s time and attention remain focused where they can have the greatest impact.

This role requires someone who can build trust quickly, read people and situations well, and develop strong working relationships across different personalities and businesses. They must be warm and approachable while also confident, persistent, and comfortable respectfully pushing when something needs to move forward.

The right person will be strategically minded, highly intuitive, and able to balance the details of today with the bigger picture of where the organization is going.

Key Responsibilities

CEO Partnership & Strategic Support

Develop a strong, trusted working relationship with the CEO and a deep understanding of his priorities, leadership style, and expectations.
Act as a sounding board and trusted partner, bringing perspective, judgment, and thoughtful challenge when appropriate.
Help translate priorities and conversations into clear actions, commitments, and follow-through.
Anticipate needs, identify potential gaps, and proactively bring forward solutions.
Protect and optimize the CEO’s time while maintaining awareness of what is happening across the organization.
Keep priorities moving through consistent, respectful, and persistent follow-up.

Internal Relationships & Alignment

Build trusted relationships with the Executive Leadership Team and leaders across JGL’s businesses.
Serve as an important internal connection between the CEO and the broader organization.
Develop a strong understanding of JGL’s businesses, people, priorities, and organizational dynamics.
Help ensure information, decisions, and priorities are communicated effectively to the right people.
Navigate different personalities, perspectives, and priorities with diplomacy and emotional intelligence.
Identify opportunities to improve communication, alignment, and collaboration across the Group.

Executive Office & Organizational Effectiveness

Manage and prioritize the CEO’s schedule, commitments, meetings, travel, and competing demands.
Coordinate leadership and Board meetings, strategic planning sessions, and other key activities.
Prepare executive communications, presentations, briefing materials, and meeting packages.
Track decisions, commitments, deadlines, and action items to ensure follow-through.
Develop and improve systems and processes that strengthen the effectiveness of the Executive Office.
Lead special projects, strategic initiatives, and confidential assignments on behalf of the CEO.

Philanthropy & Community Investment

Facilitate JGL’s family and corporate philanthropy and community investment activities on behalf of the CEO.
Review requests and gather relevant information to support thoughtful decision-making.
Coordinate meetings, approvals, contributions, correspondence, budgets, documentation, and follow-up.
Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and internal stakeholders.
Track commitments and provide updates on community investment activities.
Work collaboratively with Marketing on sponsorship initiatives, while Marketing retains ownership of business- and brand-driven sponsorships.

Qualifications & Experience

Significant progressive experience supporting or working closely with a CEO, President, Owner, Founder, or senior executive team.
Experience in a complex, entrepreneurial, multi-business, or fast-moving organization.
Strong business acumen and an ability to understand organizational priorities beyond the Executive Office.
Demonstrated experience managing competing priorities, confidential information, executive communications, and strategic initiatives.
Strong relationship-building, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Experience supporting Board governance and executive leadership activities is considered an asset.
Agriculture, agribusiness, organizational growth, or acquisition experience is considered an asset.
