Franklin General Contracting is looking for a dependable General Carpenter who has solid construction experience, takes pride in doing quality work, and can carry out assigned tasks independently.

We're building a stronger field team so our crews can handle more work without compromising the quality and care our clients expect. We need someone who can take a plan or a clear set of instructions, understand what needs to be done, and follow through.

This is a hands-on role for a carpenter who is comfortable working independently on assigned tasks while collaborating with a lead carpenter and the rest of the crew.

Franklin General Contracting is a family-owned design/build contractor serving South Glengarry, Cornwall, and the surrounding SD&G area. Our projects include custom homes, renovations, additions, and other general contracting work.

What You'll Do

• Perform hands-on carpentry and general construction tasks across residential and general contracting projects.
• Measure, cut, fit, assemble, and install materials according to project requirements.
• Assist with framing, finishing, drywall, and other construction activities within your skill set.
• Read and follow construction drawings, measurements, and instructions.
• Complete assigned work with attention to accuracy, workmanship, and detail.
• Work independently on tasks you are qualified to perform and ask questions when clarification is needed.
• Coordinate with the Lead Carpenter and other team members to keep work progressing.
• Maintain an organized work area and handle tools and materials responsibly.
• Follow site safety requirements and use tools and equipment appropriately.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and material needs before they become larger problems.
  
  

What We're Looking For

• Approximately three to five years of construction experience.
• Practical carpentry skills and experience working on residential or general contracting projects.
• The ability to complete assigned tasks independently without needing constant supervision.
• Comfort using common hand and power tools safely.
• The ability to take measurements and read construction drawings or plans.
• A dependable, organized approach to work and a commitment to quality.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a crew.
• A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to job sites.
  
  

Experience with finishing carpentry, drywall, or a range of residential construction activities is an asset.
