Original job description

Franklin General Contracting

South Glengarry, ON | Full-time | $18-$28 per hour, based on experience and skill level

Ready to work hard, learn, and build something worthwhile?

Franklin General Contracting is looking for a reliable Construction Labourer to support our residential construction and general contracting crews.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in being dependable, and wants to contribute to a team that values quality, safety, and accountability.

You don't need to be an experienced carpenter to apply. We're open to candidates who are new to construction and willing to learn, as well as those who already have experience using tools and supporting skilled tradespeople.

The right person will be ready to help wherever needed, follow instructions, and take pride in doing the small things well. For candidates with the right interests and abilities, there may also be opportunities to develop skills in job-site documentation and construction technology.

Franklin General Contracting is a family-owned design/build contractor serving South Glengarry, Cornwall, and the surrounding SD&G area.

What You'll Do

Support the crew with daily construction and general labour tasks.
Help prepare job sites and maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
Move, organize, and handle construction materials, tools, and equipment.
Assist carpenters and other team members with tasks appropriate to your experience and training.
Learn to use hand and power tools safely under appropriate direction.
Help with measuring, cutting, material preparation, and other basic construction tasks as your skills develop.
Follow instructions from the Lead Carpenter and communicate questions or problems promptly.
Help keep tools, materials, and work areas organized throughout the day.
Follow job-site safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
Arrive on time, work reliably, and contribute to a respectful and productive crew.

For candidates who are comfortable with technology, there may also be opportunities to take job-site photos, upload project information to JobTread, and support other basic documentation tasks.

What We're Looking For

A dependable attitude and willingness to learn.
No previous construction experience required for an entry-level candidate.
For candidates with 2+ years of experience, familiarity with construction tools, materials, and basic site practices is an asset.
The ability to follow instructions and work safely.
A willingness to help different team members as project needs change.
Good communication and a respectful approach to working with others.
The ability to perform physical work and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Reliable transportation to job sites throughout the service area.
A valid driver's licence is an asset, particularly for candidates expected to travel between sites independently.

Experience using smartphones, apps, or construction software such as JobTread is an asset, but not required.

Character Matters Here

We understand that not everyone starts their career with the same level of experience. What matters is that you show up, put in an honest effort, take safety seriously, and are willing to learn.

We want people who support their teammates, take care of the tools and materials entrusted to them, and ask questions when they need help.

If you're looking for a place where you can develop practical skills and grow alongside an experienced crew, we'd like to hear from you.

What We Offer

Proposed pay range of $18-$28 per hour, based on experience and skill level.
The opportunity to learn from experienced construction professionals.
Hands-on experience across residential construction and general contracting projects.
The opportunity to build your construction skills and take on more responsibility over time.
A team that values reliability, quality work, and a willingness to learn.

How to Apply

Tell us about any construction experience you have, the tools or equipment you are familiar with, and why you would be a good addition to the team.

Salary: $18 - $28 per hour
