Original job description
A family business established in New Brunswick, Adelin Properties specializes in commercial real estate development and management. With approximately 20 buildings across Greater Moncton, the company focuses on maintaining its properties and providing responsive service to its tenants.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Property Manager, the Maintenance Worker will complete general repairs, respond to tenant requests and support property improvement projects. You will travel between properties throughout the day, working independently and alongside the maintenance team.
This role offers a mix of scheduled work and unexpected repairs. Whether you are fixing a running toilet, repairing drywall or investigating a leak, you will assess the issue, identify a practical solution and recognize when outside expertise is needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete general building maintenance and repairs across commercial properties.
- Perform tasks such as basic plumbing repairs, drywall installation and repair, painting, carpentry and flooring repairs.
- Investigate leaks and other building issues, identifying potential causes and appropriate next steps.
- Respond to tenant maintenance requests professionally and promptly.
- Inspect properties to identify repair needs and potential safety concerns.
- Assist with renovations and property improvement projects.
- Purchase supplies and coordinate with outside trades as needed.
- Use a mobile app to review assignments, update progress and record completed work.
- Keep work areas clean, safe and organized.
- Communicate with the Property Manager and maintenance team about priorities, progress and issues requiring additional support.
- Practical experience in building maintenance, renovations, construction or a related trade.
- A broad range of repair skills and a willingness to learn. Experience with plumbing, drywall, painting, flooring, carpentry or kitchen installation would be an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate issues independently.
- Resourcefulness, initiative and a willingness to take ownership of your work.
- The judgment to recognize when a task requires assistance or a qualified tradesperson.
- The ability to organize your day, manage changing priorities and follow through on assigned work.
- Clear communication skills and a respectful approach to tenants, contractors and colleagues.
- Reliability, trustworthiness and sound judgment when accessing tenant spaces.
- Comfort using a smartphone and mobile apps.
- A valid driver’s licence, reliable personal vehicle for travel between properties and a smartphone.
- The ability to perform hands-on maintenance duties, including lifting and carrying materials and working in varying weather conditions.
What You Can Expect
- Compensation of $24–$27 per hour, based on experience and practical skills.
- A full-time schedule, generally Monday to Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Some scheduling flexibility depending on projects and workload.
- Occasional evening or after-hours work for specific projects. Regular on-call availability is not currently expected.
- A varied role with independence in organizing your daily work.
- Orientation to the properties, opportunities to shadow experienced team members and ongoing support from the Property Manager.
We thank all applicants for their interest. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. If you require accommodation during the recruitment process, please let us know.
