Ready to suit up as a Security Guard

What matters most in this role is your ability to read the environment, identify potential risks, anticipate situations, and respond appropriately. Strong observation skills, situational awareness, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.

As a Tactical Security Guard, physical ability is an important part of the position. You will be active throughout your shift and may be required to conduct regular patrols in a variety of environments, including retail stores, airports, security facilities, and other assigned sites.

Responsibilities For Security Guard

Patrol critical areas and remain alert for suspicious or unauthorized activity
Control access to secure areas and verify identification as required
Conduct regular foot patrols throughout the assigned site
Respond promptly to security incidents, threats, and alarms
Monitor alarms and security systems, including cameras, and report any issues
Conduct on-site checks following alarm activations or security concerns
Document incidents and actions taken through clear and accurate report writing
Use conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques when dealing with challenging situations
Work with law enforcement and emergency services during serious incidents when required
Maintain a professional security presence and follow all site-specific procedures and protocols

Qualifications For Security Guard

Valid or Able to get Advanced First Aid certification
Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
Authorized to work in Canada
Able to get a Valid Security Guard Licence
Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift
Ability to safely walk over uneven and rough terrain, including gravel trails and open-pit slopes
Strong de-escalation and conflict-resolution skills
Strong report-writing and communication skills
