Working alongside medical writers, editors, and scientific experts, you will coordinate projects while identifying opportunities to expand existing partnerships. You will also contribute to new business development through networking, industry events, and targeted outreach. This remote role combines consultative account management, commercial strategy, and project coordination within a collaborative, science-focused environment. Your work will help strengthen client partnerships, support healthcare communication initiatives, and deliver measurable business results.

\nAccountabilities:

You will manage client relationships, oversee account development, and coordinate medical communications services while supporting revenue growth and delivering a high-quality client experience.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, building trusted, long-term relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, academic, and nonprofit organizations.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow existing accounts through cross-selling and upselling services, including medical writing, publications, continuing medical education and continuing professional development (CME/CPD), scientific content development, and meeting reports.

  • Collaborate with medical writers, editors, and scientific consultants to coordinate project delivery, monitor timelines and budgets, and ensure client expectations are met.

  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, presentations, and service agreements while supporting contract renewals and onboarding for new clients.

  • Generate new business opportunities through professional networking, referrals, LinkedIn outreach, conferences, and strategic prospecting.

  • Represent the organization at industry conferences and client meetings, typically on a monthly or semi-monthly basis, to strengthen relationships and expand market presence.

  • Maintain accurate customer relationship management (CRM) records and manage sales pipelines to track opportunities and account performance.

  • Contribute to revenue forecasting, business development planning, and initiatives that support sustainable commercial growth.

  • Coordinate multiple client priorities while maintaining clear communication, strong project oversight, and a consultative approach to account management.

Requirements:

You are a relationship-driven commercial professional with a strong understanding of the medical and scientific landscape. You combine account management and business development expertise with excellent communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to coordinate complex projects in a remote environment.

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in both account management and business development within the medical, healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, laboratory, or scientific industries.

  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships, expanding existing accounts, and contributing to revenue targets.

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, academic, or broader life sciences sectors.

  • A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree in life sciences, healthcare, medicine, pharmacy, or a related discipline is an asset.

  • Experience in a medical communications agency, medical writing organization, scientific publishing environment, contract research organization (CRO), pharmaceutical company, or healthcare communications setting is an advantage.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders in a consultative manner.

  • Experience attending, networking at, or exhibiting at conferences and industry events.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple accounts, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and sales pipeline management.

  • Self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to work effectively in a remote setting.

  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

  • Willingness and ability to attend in-person client meetings and industry conferences in downtown Toronto or Mississauga on a monthly or semi-monthly basis.

  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada and willingness to complete the required criminal, credit, and reference checks.

Benefits:

  • Annual base salary ranging from CAD 75,000 to CAD 90,000.

  • Performance-based commissions, with expected total on-target earnings (OTE) of approximately CAD 110,000–130,000.

  • Permanent, full-time employment.

  • Flexible remote work arrangement within Ontario.

  • Opportunities to collaborate with a dedicated team of medical writers, editors, and scientific experts.

  • Exposure to leading organizations across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, academic, and life sciences sectors.

  • Professional development opportunities through industry conferences, networking, and continued learning.

  • A collaborative, mission-driven workplace that values innovation, relationship-building, and professional growth.
