Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development, AI Platform based in Canada.

This is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial business development professional to help bring advanced AI capabilities to established B2B insurance software companies. You will play a key role in building new business channels, developing qualified sales pipelines, and creating outbound strategies in a fast-moving technology environment. Working directly with company founders, you will help shape the ideal customer profile, refine messaging, and turn market feedback into actionable growth strategies. You will use modern sales intelligence and automation tools to make prospecting more efficient and scalable. The role combines hands-on sales execution with strategic input, offering significant ownership in an early-stage business. It is well suited to someone who thrives on autonomy, experimentation, and measurable results.

Accountabilities

Build and execute targeted outbound prospecting campaigns to engage senior decision-makers across B2B insurance software organizations.
Develop and manage qualified sales pipelines through structured outreach sequences and effective prospecting strategies.
Lead discovery calls to understand potential customers' needs, assess business opportunities, and qualify prospects.
Collaborate directly with founders to refine the ideal customer profile (ICP), positioning, and sales messaging based on market feedback.
Design and develop outbound sales frameworks and workflows from the ground up, adapting strategies as the business and technology evolve.
Leverage sales intelligence and automation tools, such as Clay and LinkedIn Sales Navigator, to streamline prospecting and reduce manual tasks.
Balance new business generation with an understanding of full-cycle sales, including deal progression, closing considerations, and revenue forecasting.
Communicate the value of complex AI capabilities in clear, concise, business-oriented language.
Monitor sales performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and continuously improve outreach effectiveness and conversion rates.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience in business development or sales, preferably within the insurance industry and a technology or AI startup environment.
A strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and key performance indicators.
Experience building outbound prospecting strategies, sales workflows, and engagement frameworks from scratch.
Strong prospecting and lead qualification skills, with an understanding of the full sales cycle and deal-closing process.
Ability to assess opportunities accurately and contribute to reliable revenue forecasting.
Familiarity with modern sales tools and automation platforms, particularly Clay and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex AI and technology concepts into clear business value.
Entrepreneurial mindset, high initiative, and a bias for action, with the ability to test ideas, learn quickly, and adapt messaging based on real-world results.
Persistence and resilience when navigating the uncertainty and challenges of early-stage business development.
Excellent organization, attention to detail, and collaboration skills.
Comfort working directly with founders and taking ownership of business development initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits

Competitive compensation package.
High level of autonomy and accountability, without a micromanagement culture.
Opportunity to work directly with founders and influence business development strategy.
Exposure to innovative AI capabilities and the B2B insurance technology sector.
Opportunity to build and shape new outbound sales channels in an early-stage environment.
