This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Media Strategy based in Canada .

This is a senior media strategy leadership role responsible for shaping integrated, full-funnel media strategies across major client accounts. You will serve as the strategic lead, connecting audience insights, media planning, data, and AI-enabled tools to measurable business outcomes. The role spans Social, Search, Programmatic and Digital Investment, Video, Out-of-Home, and Direct Partnerships. You will work directly with senior clients while partnering closely with activation, investment, data, measurement, and account strategy teams. As a people leader, you will mentor experienced media professionals and help elevate strategic standards, processes, and best practices. The environment is fast-paced, analytical, collaborative, and focused on delivering ambitious, insight-driven media solutions.

\nAccountabilities:

Lead the development of go-to-market strategies and integrated, full-funnel media plans informed by consumer, audience, and industry insights, with a strong focus on measurable business outcomes.
Establish the strategic standard for annual planning, campaign strategies, audience frameworks, budget scenarios, and measurement approaches.
Apply AI-enabled tools to insight generation, media planning, and reporting, while determining where automation creates efficiency and where human strategic judgment adds the most value.
Analyze complex data, identify meaningful insights, and translate findings into compelling, executive-ready recommendations for internal and external audiences.
Develop a deep understanding of client businesses, including strategic priorities, historical performance, competitive dynamics, opportunities, and risks.
Act as the senior media strategy voice in client meetings, briefings, and planning presentations, working closely with account and client strategy leadership.
Partner with activation, investment, data, and measurement teams to ensure strategic recommendations translate effectively into execution and performance.
Build strong relationships with media and platform partners to stay current on industry developments and maximize value for clients.
Lead and develop Associate Directors and Senior Managers, providing direction and oversight across account planning activities.
Improve planning processes, frameworks, and best practices to strengthen the quality and consistency of the media strategy function.
Establish clear team goals, provide constructive feedback, and create opportunities for professional development and career growth.

Requirements:

9+ years of professional experience focused on media strategy, media planning, and digital media.
Demonstrated B2B media experience is required.
Strong expertise across traditional, digital, and social media planning, buying, and measurement.
Strong analytical capabilities and experience using data and AI-enabled tools to identify meaningful signals and inform strategic decisions.
Experience with syndicated planning and audience-insight platforms such as Comscore, GWI, MRI-Simmons, or Nielsen.
Ability to transform complex data and insights into clear, compelling narratives for senior-level client audiences.
Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing teams in a high-pressure, high-volume environment.
Strategic confidence and willingness to challenge established approaches when doing so can create stronger outcomes for clients and the business.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably with a focus on marketing, advertising, business, or a related discipline.
Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder-management, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Benefits:

Published salary range of $167,000–$190,000 USD.
Compensation is determined based on job-related factors and may vary according to experience, skills, expertise, and other relevant considerations.
The role is subject to a Return-to-Office policy where applicable; candidates living within commuting distance of an office may be expected to work onsite a set number of days per week.
