This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Finance Director (CFO) based in Canada.
This senior finance leadership role offers the opportunity to act as a strategic business partner to the CEO within a growing international technology environment. You will oversee core financial operations while using financial insights to guide growth, profitability, and commercial decisions. The role spans budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, reporting, financial modeling, treasury, accounting, and international compliance. You will work across multiple currencies and jurisdictions, providing visibility into margins, liquidity, and key business performance drivers. The position combines strategic leadership with a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach to building scalable finance processes and controls. You will also collaborate closely with commercial, operational, legal, HR, and compliance teams to support sustainable business growth.
Accountabilities
- Partner with the CEO to oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and monitor performance against key KPIs.
- Provide actionable financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decisions and business growth.
- Build financial models for business cases, new markets, and commercial opportunities, with clear visibility into margins and profitability drivers.
- Oversee accounting, treasury, and payment operations across multiple currencies and jurisdictions.
- Manage liquidity, foreign exchange exposure, settlements, receivables, and other key financial flows.
- Ensure compliance with international accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with auditors and external advisors on financial, tax, and regulatory matters.
- Partner with Sales, Operations, Routing, HR, Legal, and Compliance teams to evaluate financial risks and improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Build and continuously improve finance processes, internal controls, systems, and team capabilities.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional finance experience, including at least 3 years in a senior finance leadership position such as Finance Director, Head of Finance, CFO, or equivalent.
- Entrepreneurial experience in scale-ups, founder-led companies, business ownership, P&L management, or building a finance function from the ground up.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and international taxation, with experience managing multi-entity, multi-currency, and cross-border operations.
- Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into clear business recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial topics clearly to teams, leadership, and shareholders.
- Hands-on, ownership-oriented approach with the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
- Confidence using financial data to challenge assumptions and support business decisions.
- Experience in telecom, payments, fintech, or other high-volume transactional businesses is a plus.
- Experience with crypto, including crypto payments, treasury, or accounting, is advantageous.
- Native or fluent Russian is mandatory.
- English proficiency at C1 level or above is mandatory.
