Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Marketing Category Manager based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to shape and execute global marketing strategies across defined product categories and business segments. You will lead product lifecycle and category-management activities while aligning stakeholders around initiatives that create value for customers, distributors, and the organization. The position combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution across market research, product management, commercial planning, promotions, and sales enablement. You will analyze market dynamics, customer needs, competitive activity, and product-line performance to support informed business decisions. Working with internal teams, suppliers, agencies, and other stakeholders, you will help drive products from development through optimization and eventual retirement. The role is based in Mississauga, Ontario, with a hybrid schedule and opportunities to contribute to global and regional initiatives.

\nAccountabilities:

Execute defined segment strategies and associated marketing projects, ensuring alignment with business priorities and customer needs.
Lead product lifecycle management activities, including product development, optimization, SKU rationalization, and product exit processes.
Conduct market research and analyze customer needs, competitive landscapes, market trends, consumer behavior, and industry developments.
Manage annual marketing category volume and margin planning, as well as longer-term five-year planning activities.
Lead and track commercial activities supporting business segment priorities, monitoring progress from project initiation through field execution.
Coordinate regular product and SKU optimization reviews and report on product-line performance and business results.
Develop and maintain market-mapping data sets to support market intelligence, category strategy, and product-line profitability analysis.
Develop and support promotional campaigns designed to increase product awareness, sales, and brand visibility.
Build strong relationships with vendors and suppliers and collaborate with procurement on contracts, pricing, and commercial terms.
Develop training sessions, webinars, sales enablement materials, packaging, and labeling initiatives in collaboration with relevant specialists.
Support marketing campaigns and programs within assigned segments and categories.
Assist with agency briefs outlining expectations and requirements for creative and marketing materials.
Support segment and category budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting.
Contribute to marketing management systems, corporate governance processes, and audit activities, including relevant IMS, IATF, and ISO requirements.
Manage and support the Speed to Market process for assigned product areas.
Take on additional assignments and projects as required by business needs.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in B2B marketing, product management, category management, or a closely related field.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
Strong understanding of category and segment management processes, including planning, product-line development, stakeholder coordination, and execution.
Demonstrated product management experience covering the full product lifecycle from initial development through product exit.
Strong marketing knowledge across areas such as pricing, promotions, advertising, supplier management, and sales environments involving direct customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
Proven market intelligence capabilities, including monitoring product and market trends, understanding customer and consumer behavior, and conducting market and profitability analysis.
Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives from planning through execution.
Experience in B2B marketing is preferred.
Knowledge of lubricants and/or specialty products and their associated product lines is an advantage.
Experience with CRM and marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce and Pardot, as well as sales enablement, is preferred.
Strong strategic mindset with the ability to connect business objectives, customer needs, brand priorities, and global or regional product strategies.
Excellent relationship-building, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and collaborate effectively across global and regional teams.
Strong commercial and financial acumen combined with sufficient technical understanding to identify opportunities, assess priorities, and develop commercially viable strategies.
Ability to make sound decisions using a combination of data, analysis, and professional judgment.
Strong ability to translate complex technical information into clear, accessible messaging for existing and prospective customers.
Visionary, proactive approach with the ability to turn strategic direction into practical execution.

Benefits
