You will also coordinate audit activities and support board and audit committee reporting. This opportunity combines hands-on accounting expertise with strategic financial oversight in a global, collaborative environment. If you are an analytical, detail-oriented finance professional with strong leadership skills, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful business impact.

Accountabilities

  • Financial Close and Reporting: Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Multi-Entity Consolidation: Lead consolidation activities across multiple legal entities, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with applicable accounting policies and reporting standards.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support financial planning processes, including budget preparation, forecasting, and analysis of financial performance against business objectives.
  • Cost Analysis and Executive Reporting: Analyze overhead costs, identify financial trends and variances, and prepare clear, actionable reports to support management decision-making.
  • Audit Management: Coordinate internal and external audit activities, prepare supporting documentation, and ensure timely responses to audit requests and follow-up actions.
  • Board and Audit Committee Support: Prepare financial information, reports, and supporting materials for board meetings and audit committee discussions.
  • Financial Controls and Compliance: Maintain strong accounting practices, ensure the integrity of financial information, and support the consistent application of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues, improve reporting processes, and meet financial reporting deadlines.
  • Team Leadership and Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate sound judgment, accountability, and leadership while helping strengthen financial processes and reporting quality.

Requirements

  • Professional Qualification: Hold an active CPA designation through the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec or another provincial accounting body.
  • Accounting and Reporting Expertise: Demonstrate strong accounting knowledge, including accounting policy application, journal entries, reconciliations, consolidation, and both management and external financial reporting.
  • Financial Close Experience: Have experience managing or coordinating month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ideally across multiple legal entities.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Possess the analytical skills necessary to evaluate overhead costs, interpret financial results, support budgeting and forecasting, and communicate meaningful insights.
  • Audit and Governance: Be comfortable coordinating audit processes and preparing financial documentation for senior management, boards, or audit committees.
  • Leadership and Management: Demonstrate leadership capabilities, sound judgment, professional integrity, and a strong sense of accountability.
  • Organization and Prioritization: Be able to manage competing priorities, collaborate effectively with different stakeholders, and consistently deliver high-quality work within strict deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Communicate financial information clearly and professionally, adapting your approach to different audiences.
  • English Proficiency: Have strong working knowledge of English, as the position involves daily interactions with colleagues, clients, and partners primarily located outside Quebec, as well as the interpretation of regulatory requirements and technical documentation.
  • Professional Approach: Demonstrate attention to detail, ethical conduct, analytical thinking, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: A comprehensive compensation package, with eligibility for a generous performance-based bonus program.
  • Retirement Savings: Access to an RRSP plan to support long-term financial security.
  • Health and Dental Coverage: Comprehensive healthcare and dental benefits, with employer contributions covering approximately 95% to 100% of eligible costs, as described in the original posting.
  • Life Insurance: Coverage of up to 2.5 times your salary.
  • Flexible Work Arrangements: Flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home up to two days per week through designated Anchor Days.
  • Wellness Support: A gym membership allowance and additional resources to support employee well-being.
  • Professional Development: Access to training, career development, and advancement opportunities.
  • International Work Environment: The opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across global markets in a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Meaningful Industry Impact: Contribute to the financial performance of an established international maritime business focused on safety, sustainability, and innovation.
  • Permanent Employment: A permanent, full-time opportunity within the Finance and Accounting department.
