Original job description
The Safety & Systems Technical Program Manager will drive the planning and execution of safety-critical engineering programs for advanced autonomous vehicle platforms. This role brings together safety, security, and systems engineering teams to ensure technical assessments, system architectures, and verification and validation activities are delivered with rigor and efficiency. You will translate complex engineering milestones into clear, coordinated plans while improving visibility, communication, and accountability across multidisciplinary teams. Using tools such as Jira and modern AI solutions, you will streamline program tracking and reduce administrative overhead. You will also play a key role in production readiness and deployment decisions, helping ensure that autonomous systems meet demanding quality and safety standards. This is an opportunity to contribute to the future of autonomous transportation in a fast-growing, innovative technology environment.
Accountabilities
- Coordinate with other Technical Program Managers to align Safety, Security, and Systems plans with cross-functional initiatives and the organization's feature introduction roadmap.
- Consolidate project timelines, Jira boards, and status updates into a centralized master plan, leveraging AI tools to synthesize information and reduce manual reporting requirements.
- Prepare clear executive reports covering Safety, Security, and Systems activities, deliverables, timelines, and resource needs across multiple assessments and platforms.
- Track verification and validation activities across simulation and real-world testing, providing program management support to test leads.
- Apply systems engineering principles to ensure requirements are fully covered by appropriate verification and validation activities.
- Organize Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) supporting driverless deployment decisions, coordinating safety and security documentation to meet internal quality gates and timelines.
- Align continuous software evaluation activities and ensure teams deliver the appropriate outputs for different product maturity and deployment stages.
- Establish effective issue-tracking and resolution processes, acting as the central point of coordination for process concerns, anomalies, and system performance issues.
- Identify potential roadblocks, facilitate communication between stakeholders, and drive issues through to resolution.
- At least 5 years of Technical Program Management experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional technical programs.
- Direct experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, aerospace, or another safety-critical environment involving hardware, software, and systems.
- Strong technical understanding of systems engineering, safety assurance, and requirements management.
- Hands-on experience with program tracking tools such as Jira, alongside an interest in using modern AI solutions to improve operational efficiency and accelerate decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear executive updates and facilitate working-level reviews.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong understanding of autonomous trucking and commercial deployment processes.
- Experience establishing centralized, single-source-of-truth planning systems across distributed teams.
- Previous experience coordinating or executing Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs).
- Competitive annual salary ranging from CAD $129,000 to $191,000, depending on location, experience, and other relevant factors.
- Additional compensation through discretionary equity incentive awards and annual performance bonuses.
- Health and wellness coverage, including medical, dental, and vision benefits.
- Paid parental, medical, and family care leave.
- Generous paid time off policy.
- Retirement savings plans, including RRSP options in Canada.
- Health savings account contribution options, where applicable.
- Drinks, snacks, and catered meals when working from an office.
- Regular team-building activities and social events, both in person and virtually.
- Additional benefits tailored to the employee's country of employment.
