Original job description

A rare opportunity to join one of Canada’s most celebrated destination dining experiences. Located on the spectacular west coast of Vancouver Island, this award-winning restaurant and boutique hotel has earned national recognition as one of Canada’s top restaurants and a leading destination for exceptional food, wine, and hospitality. Set in the natural beauty of Ucluelet, the intimate dining experience is built around seasonal Canadian ingredients, thoughtful creativity, and genuine connection. With a tasting menu restaurant, boutique guest accommodations, and a rooftop kitchen garden, every detail is designed to create a memorable experience for guests and an inspiring environment for the team. The team believes great hospitality starts with great people.

This is a place where passionate hospitality professionals come together, support one another, and continue to grow. Along with competitive compensation, the organization offers a collaborative culture, professional development opportunities, annual education funding, benefits, team meals, discounts, longevity rewards, and an annual winter closure.

As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will play an important leadership role within the front-of-house team, partnering with the ownership and leadership team to deliver exceptional guest experiences while supporting the daily operation of the restaurant and boutique accommodations. This is a hands-on hospitality leadership role for someone who enjoys being present on the floor, developing people, and creating memorable moments for guests. You will help lead service, mentor team members, support beverage education, and contribute to the continued evolution of one of Canada’s leading destination restaurants. This position is ideal for an emerging hospitality leader who is passionate about food, wine, and service excellence and is looking for an opportunity to grow toward a future Restaurant Manager role.

Description

Support daily operations including reservations, guest communications, dinner service, and closing procedures
Assist with guest relations and service recovery when required
Collaborate closely with the culinary team to deliver seamless guest experiences
Contribute ideas to continually improve the guest experience and workplace culture
Uphold the exceptional hospitality standards that have earned national recognition

Requirements

Previous leadership or supervisory experience
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to lead by example while fostering a positive team culture
Confidence making decisions and supporting the team during service
Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth

Extended health and dental benefits
Annual education funding
Daily family meal

The leadership team typically works four days per week, averaging 40 to 50 hours. Summer brings full, energetic service periods, while winter offers a slower pace and the opportunity to enjoy everything the West Coast has to offer.

With three days off each week, Ucluelet provides an incredible lifestyle for those who enjoy surfing, hiking, fishing, camping, and exploring the natural beauty of Vancouver Island.

If you are passionate about exceptional hospitality and want to be part of a team creating one of Canada’s most unique dining experiences, we would love to hear from you.
