Summary Of Position

The Senior Business Process Design & Project Manager leads complex process improvement and transformation initiatives from problem definition through implementation and benefits realization.

The role combines deep expertise in end-to-end business process design with intermediate-to-senior project management capability. Working across business and enabling functions, the position diagnoses operational challenges, designs practical future-state processes, establishes governance and controls, and manages the people, scope, schedule, budget, risks, dependencies, and change activities required to deliver sustainable outcomes.

Must Haves

  • Post-secondary degree in business, operations, engineering, information systems, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in business process design, operational improvement, transformation, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience managing cross-functional projects of moderate-to-high complexity, including responsibility for integrated planning, governance, risk, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience mapping and redesigning end-to-end processes and implementing measurable improvements.
  • Strong workshop facilitation, requirements elicitation, problem-solving, business analysis, and executive communication capabilities.
  • Experience developing business cases, options analyses, implementation roadmaps, performance measures, and benefits-realization plans.
  • Proficiency with process-mapping, collaboration, project-scheduling, reporting, and presentation tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management certification such as PMP or equivalent.
  • Lean Six Sigma, business process management, business analysis, change management, or agile certification.
  • Experience supporting technology-enabled transformation, workflow automation, enterprise systems, or operating-model change.
  • Experience in a regulated, complex, or multi-stakeholder environment.

Accountabilities

Business Process Design & Improvement

  • Lead discovery and current-state assessments using interviews, workshops, data analysis, observation, and process mapping.
  • Design customer-focused, end-to-end future-state processes that clarify roles, decision rights, handoffs, controls, service levels, and performance measures.
  • Apply process design methods such as Lean, value-stream mapping, root-cause analysis, service blueprinting, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, digitize, or eliminate low-value activities.
  • Translate business needs into process requirements, operating procedures, business rules, controls, and functional requirements.
  • Facilitate cross-functional design sessions, resolve competing requirements, and build agreement on practical solutions.
  • Establish process ownership, governance, documentation standards, and mechanisms for ongoing performance management.
  • Define baselines, expected benefits, key performance indicators, and post-implementation review measures.

Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead medium-to-large or complex initiatives through initiation, planning, execution, implementation, and closeout.
  • Develop fit-for-purpose charters, integrated plans, schedules, budgets, resource forecasts, governance routines, and status reporting.
  • Manage scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, changes, vendors, and quality.
  • Provide clear, concise reporting and recommendations to sponsors, steering committees, and senior leaders.
  • Coordinate business, technology, procurement, legal, risk, and external delivery partners as required.
  • Apply appropriate delivery approaches, including predictive, agile, hybrid, and progressive elaboration.
  • Plan implementation readiness, transition activities, training, communications, adoption, and operational handover.
  • Track outcomes and benefits, address performance gaps, and capture lessons learned for future initiatives.

Stakeholder & Change Leadership

  • Build trusted relationships with process owners, subject-matter experts, project teams, and leaders at all levels.
  • Make complex business problems understandable through clear process visuals, decision materials, and executive-level communication.
  • Assess stakeholder impacts and adoption risks, and integrate change management activities into delivery plans.
  • Coach team members and business partners in process thinking, structured problem solving, and disciplined project delivery.
  • Constructively challenge assumptions while maintaining momentum, accountability, and stakeholder commitment.
