Job Overview:
A residential property management organization is seeking a skilled and dependable Live-In Maintenance Technician to support the operations of a high-rise residential rental community in Downtown Hamilton. The position is suited to a hands-on maintenance professional with a customer-first mindset and a commitment to maintaining safe, well-maintained, and comfortable living environments for residents.
The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day property maintenance, including repairs, preventative maintenance, work orders, and emergency response. This position offers the opportunity to live and work on-site, with a housing benefit that includes a free apartment, hot water, and heat.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform repairs to rental units as needed, including during occupancy and resident turnovers.
Conduct routine and scheduled preventative maintenance throughout the property.
Maintain the general upkeep of the property and ensure amenities are safe, functional, and operating properly.
Respond to emergency maintenance calls as required.
Complete approved maintenance-related work orders.
Identify hazards and take appropriate corrective action when necessary.
Perform painting and light renovation work as required.
Follow health, safety, and emergency procedures.
Help maintain a safe, clean, and positive living environment for residents.
Participate in an after-hours rotational emergency response team, as required.
Qualifications:
Working knowledge and professional experience in a variety of residential maintenance and light renovation tasks.
General understanding of residential building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and heating systems.
Experience performing basic appliance and fixture repairs is considered an asset.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Valid Class G driver's licence, access to a personal vehicle, and a clean driver's abstract.
Ability to respond to maintenance emergencies during regular operating hours.
Must have the tools necessary to complete basic maintenance tasks; specialty tools will be provided as required.
