Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Application Developer with strong expertise in Java Backend Development, Quarkus, XML/XSLT Processing, and Enterprise Integration. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Saxon XML/XSLT libraries, parser development, structured data transformation, YAML conversion, IBM DataPower, and MQ-based integrations. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting secure, scalable backend solutions in a complex enterprise environment.
Required Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience in Java backend development
- Experience with Quarkus
- Good experience with Saxon XML/XSLT libraries
- Strong understanding of XML, XSLT, and XSLT parser implementation
- Experience in building or maintaining parsers
- Experience in converting/translating structured data into YAML files
- Knowledge of policy-based and rule-based processing
- Hands-on experience with MQs / message queue-based integrations
- Good understanding of communication/security protocols such as TLS and MQ
- Experience with backend application debugging, performance tuning, and support
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Quarkus
- Build and support services involving XML/XSLT transformations using libraries such as Saxon
- Develop and maintain parser components for structured data processing and conversion, including transformation to YAML
- Work with XSLT parsers and rule/policy-based processing frameworks
- Implement and support integrations using message queues (MQs)
- Ensure secure communication and transport using protocols such as TLS and MQ
- Analyze technical requirements and translate them into robust backend solutions
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing backend and transformation components
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, and cross-functional teams to deliver integration solutions
- Leverage Copilot, Codex, or similar AI-assisted development tools to improve developer productivity and code quality
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment support activities
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in enterprise integration or middleware-heavy environments
- Familiarity with API and service-based architectures
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of secure application design and integration standards
- Experience using GitHub Copilot, Codex, or similar AI coding assistants in development workflows
