Original job description

Position: Technical Business Analyst (IAM)

Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid)

Job type: Full-time / Permanent

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically grounded Technical Business Analyst to act as the vital bridge between our Product owners, Enterprise Architects, and Engineering teams. In this role, you will not just gather requirements - you will deeply analyze backend system architecture, microservices, and Identity & Access Management (IAM) workflows. You will translate complex technical architectures into crisp, developer-ready requirements while ensuring robust security and operational compliance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Requirement Lifecycle & Technical Documentation: Author comprehensive, highly detailed technical requirement documents (Functional Specs, Mapping Documents, API Specs). Own the mapping, updating, and refinement of user stories and architecture requirements within Jira and Confluence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner daily with Product Teams, Developers, Senior Leadership, and Enterprise Architects to align business vision with technical execution. Act as the primary coordinator across engineering silos and external vendors.
  • Process & DevOps Integration: Analyze, map, and support the delivery of end-to-end engineering processes, incorporating modern cloud/DevOps features and automated delivery workflows.
  • Problem Resolution & Strategy: Proactively identify operational risks, system bottlenecks, and compliance issues. Recommend and coordinate data-driven strategies to systematically resolve platform issues.
  • Project Leadership: Plan, organize, and manage technical milestones, tracking cross-functional resources to ensure successful, on-time goal delivery.

Required Skillsets

  • Technical & Backend Awareness: Prior hands-on experience or deep technical understanding of Java development, microservices, backend system architectures, and automated API pipelines.
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM): Strong knowledge of core authentication frameworks and access protocols. High familiarity with market-leading IAM solutions such as ForgeRock, Okta, Ping Identity, or CA SiteMinder.
  • IT Operations & Security: solid grounding in IT industry operations, operational risk, network topologies, multi-factor authentication (MFA), enterprise IT systems, and IT Service Management (ITSM) toolsets.
  • Communication & Articulation: Exceptional ability to synthesize complex, highly technical system architectures and articulate them clearly to both executive stakeholders and software engineers.
  • Data & Office Engineering: Advanced-to-expert level capability with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for automating reports, handling large operational data sets, and creating executive-level presentations.
