Are you interested in joining an innovative manufacturing company serving the global engineered wood industry?
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to join our Operations team.
Kadant Carmanah Design is recognized as a global leader in the design and manufacture of equipment for the engineered wood products industry and is the largest supplier of stranders used in the production of Oriented Strand Board (OSB) and other wood-based composites.
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating day-to-day transportation, shipping, and customs activities for domestic, cross-border, and international shipments.
Working closely with the Logistics Manager, Operations, Stores, Production, Purchasing, and Sales teams, this position plays an important role in ensuring customer orders are shipped on time, incoming materials arrive as required, and shipping processes support Kadant’s operational and on-time delivery (OTD) targets.
The primary focus of this role is to coordinate the timely and accurate movement of goods, ensure shipping and customs documentation is complete and compliant, and proactively communicate and resolve issues that could affect delivery commitments.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates proactively, and understands the importance of accuracy and on-time delivery for customers.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Takes initiative and works independently to complete daily responsibilities.
- Recognizes potential shipping issues early and works proactively toward solutions.
- Can effectively prioritize multiple shipments and changing operational requirements.
- Pays close attention to detail and takes pride in preparing accurate documentation.
- Communicates professionally and works well with internal teams and external service providers.
- Is interested in learning, improving processes, and contributing to the overall success of the Logistics Department.

- Coordinate domestic, cross-border, and international shipments, including courier, LTL, FTL, air, and ocean freight.
- Arrange freight pickups and deliveries with carriers, freight forwarders, and other transportation providers.
- Review sales orders and assign picking and packing priorities based on customer requirements, planned shipping dates, and operational needs.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure orders are ready for shipment and customer delivery commitments are met.
- Monitor incoming purchase orders and coordinate transportation as required to support production and inventory needs.
- Coordinate return material authorizations (RMAs), warranty returns, stock transfers, and other special shipments.
- Prioritize urgent customer requirements, plant shutdown shipments, and time-sensitive deliveries.
Customs & Documentation
- Prepare and review accurate shipping and customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and CUSMA/USMCA certifications.
- Ensure shipping documentation accurately reflects the goods being shipped, including part numbers, descriptions, quantities, values, weights, and applicable terms of sale.
- Support customs compliance requirements, including HS classifications, country of origin, and import/export procedures.
- Work with customs brokers and freight forwarders to facilitate customs clearance and resolve documentation or clearance issues.
- Identify potential customs or transportation delays and take proactive steps to prevent disruptions.
Order Management & On-Time Delivery
- Utilize Epicor ERP to support daily logistics activities, including assigning orders for picking and packing, creating packing slips, and reviewing order fulfillment status.
- Monitor planned shipping dates and order readiness to support Kadant’s on-time delivery (OTD) targets.
- Identify, investigate, and document reasons for late shipments, including delays related to order readiness, inventory, production, documentation, or transportation.
- Communicate shipment delays, potential issues, and changes to delivery schedules to the appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to resolve shipping issues and identify opportunities to prevent recurring delays.
Cost Management & Continuous Improvement
- Review freight options and transportation costs to identify cost-effective shipping solutions while meeting delivery requirements.
