Who We Are
Kandor Management is a BC-owned and operated security and facility services company serving communities across Canada. At Kandor, we know exceptional service starts with exceptional people. That’s why we invest in hiring the right talent, training them thoroughly, and supporting them to do their best work every day. The result is a team that takes pride in what they do, and it shows in the way we show up.
Our strength is built on people. We focus on growth, development, and creating an environment where our teams can build meaningful careers while delivering consistent, high-quality service.
We believe facility and security services are more than operations, they’re about supporting the safety, well-being, and success of the communities we serve. Whether we’re working with small businesses or large organizations, we take a thoughtful, end-to-end approach where every detail matters and every role contributes to the bigger picture.
Inclusion, diversity, and respect are core to how we operate. We’re committed to building a workplace that reflects the communities we work in. One where different perspectives are valued, voices are heard, and people have the opportunity to grow and thrive.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Kandor’s executive team and play a key role in supporting and strengthening our Finance function as we continue to scale.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Information Technology to lead, shape, and evolve the technology function across all three Kandor companies. This is a senior leadership role that sits at the intersection of technology excellence, business partnership, and operational delivery. You will be responsible for the overall IT strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity posture, and service delivery for a geographically distributed organization undergoing meaningful systems change.
As the Director of IT, you will directly oversee two team members - an IT Service Lead and Technical Services Coordinator - who together manage our service desk and day-to-day technical support operations. You will provide strategic direction and technical oversight, while being the key technology partner to senior leadership and business stakeholders across all three operating companies.
This is not a role for someone who simply manages from a distance. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable in a boardroom presenting a technology roadmap and in a working session troubleshooting an API integration challenge. Strong business partnering, customer service orientation, and the ability to lead through change are foundational expectations of this position.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Technology Leadership
- Own the IT strategy for Kandor Management, aligning technology investments and roadmaps with the operational needs of Guardteck, Everclean, and Kendrix.
- Lead the technology transformation agenda - championing new platforms, integrations, and digital workflows - while establishing governance frameworks that manage risk, ensure compliance, and keep IT tightly aligned to business objectives.
People Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop two direct reports and provide oversight to the broader service desk team. Foster a coaching-oriented culture grounded in accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service excellence.
- Support direct reports through regular feedback, development planning, and stretch opportunities that build long-term IT team capability.
Service Delivery & Helpdesk Oversight
- Provide strategic oversight of the Technology Service Desk (TSD), monitoring service levels, ticket trends, and escalation patterns to drive quality and consistency.
- Own the escalation path for complex or high-impact technical issues, ensuring timely resolution and clear stakeholder communication.
- Maintain robust TSD documentation, processes, and knowledge management practices that reduce single-points-of-failure.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Serve as Kandor's senior authority on information security, establishing and maintaining a strong cybersecurity posture across all three companies - including policies, access controls, incident response, and user security awareness.
- Lead IT risk management activities, stay ahead of the evolving threat landscape, and ensure compliance with applicable data protection standards.
Systems Architecture & API Integration
- Own the technology stack across Kandor, including core business platforms, cloud services, and third-party tools.
- Lead and oversee API integrations between business systems, ensuring reliable, secure, and well-documented cross-platform data flows.
- Manage system upgrades, fixes, and feature rollouts in close partnership with business stakeholders to minimize disruption and drive adoption.
Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary technology partner to senior leadership and operational teams across all three companies.
- Build trusted relationships with stakeholders at every level, proactively identifying technology solutions that address business challenges.
- Translate technical complexity into clear, business-relevant narratives for executive audiences and communicate openly throughout periods of system change.
Vendor & Budget Management
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and performance across the IT ecosystem.
- Own the IT budget - including planning, forecasting, and cost management across hardware, software, services, and staffing - making sound investment decisions that balance business capability with fiscal responsibility.
Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a senior IT management or director-level role
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing IT teams, including service desk or helpdesk functions
- Strong technical breadth across infrastructure, end-user computing, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications
- Proven experience with API integrations and connecting disparate business systems
- Solid cybersecurity knowledge, including risk assessment, policy development, incident response, and compliance frameworks
- Experience delivering technology change in a multi-site, multi-entity, or distributed organization
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and business partnering skills
- Strong understanding of ITIL or equivalent IT service management frameworks
- Proven ability to develop and execute IT strategy aligned to business objectives
Preferred / Assets
- Experience in service industries (security, janitorial, facilities, or similar) is a strong asset
- Familiarity with helpdesk ticketing systems (e.g., Monday.com) and remote support tools (e.g., TeamViewer, RDP)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 ecosystem, Azure AD / Entra ID, and Windows/macOS environments
- Working knowledge of mobile device management (MDM) solutions
- Experience supporting or managing ERP, workforce management, or field operations platforms
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, ITIL Foundation, PMP, or similar
- Experience managing IT through a period of significant system change, digital transformation, or platform migration
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
What We're Looking For in You
Beyond the technical and functional requirements, Kandor Management is looking for a Director of IT who leads with a human-centered mindset - someone who recognizes that technology serves people, and that the best IT outcomes are achieved when the team feels trusted, supported, and clear on what matters.
You bring strategic thinking paired with practical execution - you can set a technology vision and also roll up your sleeves when the situation demands it. You are as comfortable having a strategic conversation with a senior executive as you are reviewing a security policy or guiding your team through a complex escalation.
You are a relationship builder and communicator who earns trust across every level of the organization. In a multi-company environment with diverse operational needs, your ability to listen, translate, and deliver will be your greatest asset.
Why Kandor Management
Kandor Management offers a unique opportunity to shape IT across three distinct, growing service companies from a single strategic seat. You will have real ownership, a committed team to lead, and the support of an organization that understands the value of getting technology right. This is a role with scope to grow - in people, systems, and impact.
