Responsibilities

Direct support professionals assist individuals with developmental disabilities in their daily living activities to promote full citizenship. They work collaboratively with families and community partners to foster growth and meaningful relationships.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a satisfactory vulnerable sector police check. Preferred qualifications include 3-6 months of experience and relevant post-secondary education.

Original job description

This is a casual posting for the community of Prince Albert at the Group Living location The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts that include days, evenings, night-awakes, and weekends. Hours are dependent on the need to fill in on personal holidays, stat holidays, sick days, and any other vacancy, not to fill a permanent rotation in the schedule.

Direct Support Professional employees build communities that value the contributions of people who experience developmental disabilities. They assist with activities of daily living, working collaboratively with families, advocates, friends, and community partners in order to promote full citizenship and enhance relationships. Recognizing people’s right to self-determination, and valuing their unique gifts while encouraging continuous growth and development is only a part of what makes this a rewarding career.

Requirements:

Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Valid Sask. Class 5 or Sask. Novice 2 driver's license and access to reliable transportation
Satisfactory Driver's Abstract

Preferred:

3-6 Months Experience (volunteer or employment)
Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or post-secondary education in a related field
