Original job description

Direct Support Professional employees build communities that value the contributions of people who experience developmental disabilities. They assist with activities of daily living, working collaboratively with families, advocates, friends, and community partners in order to promote full citizenship and enhance relationships. Recognizing people’s right to self-determination, and valuing their unique gifts while encouraging continuous growth and development is only a part of what makes this a rewarding career.

Requirements:

Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
A valid Sask. Full Class 5 or Sask. Novice 2 driver's license and access to reliable transportation
Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract

Preferred:

3-6 Months Experience (volunteer or employment)
Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or post-secondary education in a related field

Working Conditions:

This location supports service users who smoke and/or vape
May involve driving/travel within the local community with people supported as passengers

Responsibilities

Direct Support Professionals assist individuals with developmental disabilities in their daily living activities to promote full citizenship and independence. They work collaboratively with families and community partners to foster relationships and support the unique gifts of each individual.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a valid Sask. Full Class 5 or Novice 2 driver's license and pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Check. Preferred qualifications include 3-6 months of experience and post-secondary education in a related field such as Developmental Services or Child and Youth work.
