Original job description

Archived listing. The details below describe a past opening.

Our client, a growing organization in the mining sector, is looking for an experienced Director, Supply Chain to lead its supply chain function across corporate and operational environments.

This is a key leadership role responsible for procurement, contracts, logistics, warehousing, and supply chain operations. Based in Toronto, the Director will lead a team located primarily in Saskatoon and partner closely with the operations group and senior leadership.

About The Role

The role is becoming available due to a planned retirement and offers the opportunity to take over an established function with systems and processes already in place, while identifying opportunities to improve and scale the function as the organization continues to grow.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the overall supply chain function, including procurement, contracts, logistics, warehousing, and vendor management.
  • Manage and develop a team of procurement and warehouse professionals based in Saskatoon.
  • Partner closely with operations to support day-to-day requirements and longer-term business priorities.
  • Oversee significant corporate and operational contracts, including negotiations, commercial terms, supplier performance, and risk management.
  • Support supply chain requirements related to a major project currently in the construction phase.
  • Manage procurement and logistics priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Oversee warehousing, inventory management, and related supply chain processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement strategy, systems, controls, reporting, cost management, and vendor relationships.
  • Maintain and enhance existing supply chain processes rather than rebuilding the function from scratch.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, and operational leadership.
  • Provide coaching, leadership, and direction to the supply chain team.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, contracts, logistics, or a related area.
  • Proven experience leading a supply chain or procurement function.
  • Strong people leadership experience, including managing teams across multiple locations.
  • Significant experience negotiating and managing large or complex contracts.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, logistics, warehousing, inventory, and vendor management.
  • Experience working closely with operations in a complex or fast-moving environment.
  • Mining industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience from related sectors such as construction, heavy industrial, energy, natural resources, manufacturing, or infrastructure may also be considered.
  • Experience supporting large capital projects or construction environments is an asset.
  • Strong commercial judgment and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and navigate operational demands.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
