Role Description This full-time Field Service Technician role is an on-site position based in Cambridge, ON. The Field Service Technician will install, commission, maintain, and repair Kawasaki robotic systems and controllers at customer locations, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and software issues, performing preventive maintenance, and completing detailed service reports. The role also involves providing technical support and training to customers, collaborating with engineering and support teams to resolve complex problems, and following all safety procedures and company standards. Travel to customer sites within the region may be required, along with occasional after-hours support.
Qualifications
- Experience with industrial robotics and automation systems, including troubleshooting and repair, installation/commissioning, programming and preventative maintenance.
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills, such as reading schematics, wiring, assembling components, and performing hands-on repairs.
- Intermediate programming and configuration skills for robotic systems or industrial controls.
- Technical problem-solving abilities, including root-cause analysis, diagnostic testing, and effective resolution of field issues.
- English language proficiency (written and verbal) and strong communication skills for customer interaction, training, and documentation of service activities are required.
- Ability to work independently on-site, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
- Commitment to safety practices, following lockout/tagout procedures and applicable industry and company standards.
- Post-secondary education in robotics, electrical or mechanical engineering technology, industrial maintenance, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites within the region; ability to lift and handle equipment as required.
- Previous field service or customer-facing technical support experience in an industrial setting is an asset.
