Lead the Launch of a New Manufacturing Process

Kelly Services is recruiting on behalf of a growing manufacturing organization that is expanding its operations with the introduction of a specialized multilayer thermoforming process.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Thermoforming Process Technician to play a key role in launching a new production line from the ground up. The successful candidate will receive specialized international training, support equipment commissioning, and become the primary technical resource for a highly specialized manufacturing operation.

International Training Opportunity

As part of this role, the successful candidate will travel to Germany for approximately 6 weeks to receive in-depth training on equipment, processes, and technology. Upon returning to Canada, you will play a lead role in commissioning the equipment and supporting the successful launch of the operation.

Schedule

This position will primarily operate on a day shift schedule. Flexibility is required to support equipment commissioning, production trials, process development, and operational needs associated with launching a new manufacturing process.

Hours of work may vary based on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Become the primary technical expert for a new multilayer thermoforming operation
• Participate in approximately 6 weeks of training in Germany
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and process validation
• Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, process, and quality issues
• Optimize machine performance, efficiency, and product quality
• Lead process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
• Monitor material usage and reduce waste
• Develop and maintain process documentation and operating procedures
• Train and support operators and future technical team members
• Collaborate with local and international technical experts
• Take ownership of technical issues and drive effective solutions

Qualifications

Required

• Hands-on experience with thermoforming processes
• Strong troubleshooting and process optimization experience
• Experience with machine setup, startup, changeovers, and production support
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and make technical decisions with minimal supervision
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally for approximately 6 weeks of training
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred

• Experience with extrusion processes
• Experience with multilayer extrusion
• Experience in plastics, packaging, or food packaging manufacturing
• Equipment commissioning and startup experience
• Technical leadership, mentorship, or training experience
• Continuous improvement experience
