Location: On-site - Calgary, AB
Contract: November 23, 2026 – November 22, 2027
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Pay: $33.00–$40.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
About the role
We’re seeking an experienced Account Analyst for a senior contract role supporting full-cycle accounts payable and employee expenses in a high-volume, automated environment.
You’ll handle complex invoice, purchase order, payment, expense, workflow, and reconciliation issues. You’ll also investigate why transactions fail automated processing and identify practical improvements that strengthen controls, reduce recurring issues, and make processes more efficient.
What you’ll do
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice validation and coding, two- and three-way matching, payment support, reconciliations, and exception resolution.
- Troubleshoot complex purchase order, goods receipt/service entry, GR/IR, pricing, quantity, tax, coding, approval, supplier master, and workflow issues.
- Investigate transactions that fail automated processing and identify whether the cause relates to the transaction, process, system, data, controls, or roles.
- Resolve employee expense and policy exceptions and guide employees on submission requirements.
- Investigate duplicate invoices or payments, payment holds, recurring control issues, and payment-readiness risks.
- Monitor AP queues, aging, workflow delays, and invoices at risk of late payment.
- Support month-end and year-end close, including accruals, reconciliations, reporting, aged-item resolution, and variance analysis.
- Use AP dashboards and KPIs to identify trends and take action on backlogs, exception rates, matching, processing times, and payment performance.
- Identify recurring root causes and develop solutions to prevent issues from happening again.
- Recommend opportunities to automate, standardize, simplify, and strengthen AP processes and controls.
- Work with AP, Supply Chain Management, Master Data, Tax, Finance, employees, suppliers, and business partners to resolve issues and implement improvements.
- Provide technical guidance on complex AP and employee expense matters to other AP team members.
What you’ll bring
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- At least five years of full-cycle accounts payable, employee expense, or related financial operations experience.
- Strong knowledge of two- and three-way matching, purchase order processing, GR/IR, exception management, duplicate-payment controls, reconciliations, and financial controls.
- Experience with SAP, Concur, or comparable ERP and expense management systems.
- Experience troubleshooting automated invoice workflows and transactions that fail straight-through processing.
- Ability to interpret AP dashboards, reports, and KPIs and turn findings into practical improvements.
- Strong analytical, root-cause problem-solving, organizational, communication, customer service, and stakeholder-management skills.
- A process-improvement mindset and the ability to challenge inefficient practices and develop sustainable solutions.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset.
