Tax Technician
Location: On-site, Burlington, ON
Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 per year, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Our client, a well-established organization in Burlington, ON, is seeking an experienced Tax Technician to join their team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented tax professional with strong Canadian corporate and trust tax experience who can independently manage multiple client files while meeting strict deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Prepare T2 Corporation Income Tax Returns for Canadian corporations.
- Prepare T3 Trust Income Tax Returns.
- Prepare corporate and trust tax schedules, supporting working papers, and related documentation.
- Review financial statements and accounting records to support accurate tax preparation.
- Identify tax adjustments and reconcile accounting income to taxable income.
- Prepare tax returns accurately and efficiently in accordance with CRA requirements.
- Prepare and review GST/HST and other tax filings as required.
- Respond to CRA correspondence and assist with CRA reviews, inquiries, and information requests.
- Communicate directly with clients to obtain required information and resolve tax-related questions.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and complete tax files.
- Manage multiple client files while ensuring all filing deadlines are met.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of Canadian tax preparation experience.
- Proven experience preparing T2 and T3 tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate and trust taxation.
- Familiarity with CRA requirements, tax schedules, and tax compliance.
- Experience with Taxprep and CCH iFirm, or similar tax preparation and accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional, client-focused approach with the ability to communicate tax information clearly.
