Risk Analyst III (Counterparty Credit Risk)

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 4 Days Onsite)

Duration: October 2026 to April 2027 (Extension Possible)

Hours: Monday to Friday, Core Business Hours

Pay Rate: Up to $45.00/hour + 4% Vacation Pay

Join a Leading Financial Institution

We are seeking a Risk Analyst III to join a high-performing Counterparty Credit Risk team within a major Canadian financial institution. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across Credit Risk, Capital Markets, Front Office Trading, Technology, Operations, and Audit while supporting the monitoring and management of risk exposure across global trading activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for finance professionals with strong counterparty credit risk, market risk, or capital markets experience who enjoy investigative analysis, risk monitoring, and working in a fast-paced trading environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As a member of the Credit Exception Management team, you will:

Investigate and escalate counterparty credit limit excesses and exceptions.
Monitor, analyze, and report risk exposures across trading portfolios.
Ensure compliance with established counterparty credit limits and internal policies.
Perform detailed investigations into risk breaches, exposure anomalies, and production issues.
Support implementation of new or revised credit facilities, policies, and processes.
Conduct impact assessments and assist with requirements gathering and testing activities.
Produce accurate risk reports and ensure timely delivery according to established SLAs.
Partner with stakeholders across Credit Risk, Front Office, Operations, Technology, and Audit.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Maintain strong governance, controls, documentation, and audit readiness.
Perform ad hoc analysis of risk metrics, exposures, and transactions as required.
Develop an understanding of derivative products and financial modeling principles used in risk management.

Required Qualifications

Must-Have Experience

5+ years of experience within Capital Markets, Counterparty Credit Risk, Trading Credit Risk, or Market Risk.
Strong understanding of:
Derivatives (including OTC derivatives)
Bonds and fixed income products
Counterparty Credit Risk
Capital Markets environments
Proven investigation and analytical experience with complex financial exposures and exceptions.
Experience performing:
Impact assessments
Business requirements documentation
User acceptance testing (UAT) and project support
Experience working with vendor or enterprise risk systems.
Strong documentation and reporting skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across multiple business groups.

Education

Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Commerce, or a related discipline.
CFA, FRM, or postgraduate studies are considered strong assets.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in bank risk management environments.
Knowledge of risk governance and compliance frameworks.
Exposure to SQL, VBA, Python, AI tools, or data analytics technologies.
Experience supporting risk-related projects and process improvements.
