Your next pharmacy role could offer meaningful patient relationships, independent practice, and a weekday schedule.
Kenron Compounding Pharmacy is seeking an experienced Pharmacist for our Rockyview location in Calgary. As an independently owned pharmacy group, we value personal service, thoughtful problem-solving and the relationships that make community pharmacy rewarding.
You’ll be the only pharmacist on site, working alongside a pharmacy assistant and reporting directly to the Owner. This is a hands-on Pharmacist position with no formal management responsibilities and no compounding.
The Opportunity
This role suits a pharmacist who enjoys connecting with patients, exercises sound clinical judgment and is comfortable working independently within a small team.
You’ll combine dispensing and patient counselling with clinical services and the daily coordination needed to keep the pharmacy running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
- Assess prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, identify medication-related concerns and complete accurate dispensing checks.
- Counsel patients on prescription and non-prescription medications, safe medication use, side effects and adherence.
- Provide medication reviews, care plans and patient follow-up.
- Administer injections and vaccinations.
- Provide prescribing services within your authorization and scope of practice.
- Communicate with prescribers and other healthcare professionals to clarify prescriptions and resolve medication-related concerns.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document clinical assessments, services and follow-up.
- Follow pharmacy procedures and applicable professional requirements for patient safety, confidentiality and medication handling.
- Coordinate prescription workflow and patient-care priorities with the pharmacy assistant.
- Support inventory ordering, medication-shortage management, expiry checks and appropriate medication storage.
- Build respectful, lasting relationships with patients and local healthcare providers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited program.
- Active practising licence with the Alberta College of Pharmacists, in good standing.
- At least two years of pharmacist experience.
- Additional Prescribing Authority, or willingness to obtain it within six months of starting.
- Active injection certification.
- Strong communication, organization and follow-through.
- Sound judgment and the ability to work independently as the only pharmacist on site.
- Availability for a permanent, full-time, in-person position.
- Based in Calgary or actively relocating to Calgary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Community or retail pharmacy experience.
- Familiarity with Kroll or comparable pharmacy software.
- Experience supporting prescribers with dosing guidance, commercial product selection and therapeutic alternatives.
Compensation and benefits
- $55–$65 per hour, based on experience.
- Performance-based bonus opportunities.
- Minimum three weeks’ annual vacation accrued monthly.
- Up to three paid sick days per year.
- Extended health, dental and vision care.
- Short- and long-term disability coverage.
- ACP licence reimbursement.
- Professional liability insurance reimbursement.
- On-site parking, where applicable.
- Quarterly staff events.
- Employee purchase program.
